If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Front-End Swaps - Non-Suzuki Options?

I made a long post/thread several years ago of cartridge fork and triple clamp options to retain acceptable geometry. Look that up. Modern cartidge fork options for 18" wheels or something similar was the title.

    Front-End Swaps - Non-Suzuki Options?

These 750+ 4 cylinder engines are quite wide. With 18" wheels front and rear, taller shocks, and almost stock front end height, I scrape my feet & the stator covers just playing in the tight corners on twisty roads. With proper tires sized for my rim widths (non-stock), I run to the very edge of...

    Front-End Swaps - Non-Suzuki Options?

WHAT HE SAID ^^^^^^^^ Bandit 1200 forks from the 1990's are long, Honda VT1000C Superhawk forks are long as they stick up over an inch above the stock triples to have clip ons mounted to the fork legs above the triples. Yamaha YZF600 forks also are taller but oretty thin. R6 forks are paper...

    Gearbox issues - shift forks?

I've been having some difficulty downshifting for a while now on my 750 8v. Mind you, this particular bottom end has done great to tolerate an extreme amount of abuse dished out by myself & my thirst for adrenaline and more power (it's seen stock bore pods & pipe, 844cc upgrade, & 920cc top end...

    650 kickstart doable?

And I'm very boggled as to your saying the ignition just needed lubricated, and would rub when it got hot and expanded... The only thing that could need lubricated would be the mechanical advancer assembly, and that being stuck and not advancing would cause the opposite of detonation, timing...

    650 kickstart doable?

The '79 GS850G was the only shaft drive Suzuki GS model that had a kickstarter provision. That engine is not swappable into a 650G frame without extensive frame modification in height and front cradle tubing re-spacing to accomodate the exhaust. At that point, it'd be far easier to track down a...

    650 kickstart doable?

The GS650E certainly can be retrofit to have a kickstarter. The bottom end is virtually the same as the 550 chain drive. I think I looked up Suzuki part #'s a few yrs ago on the crankcases, and found that the 650E crankcases shared the same part # as at least a few years of 550 8v. I was...

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days Festival 2018! July 6th 7th 8th!

FYI Norm, with the attendance the event has drawn the past several times, breaking attendance records every single year, "early" means you are there waiting in line at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in order to get in when they open the gate at 5:00PM... Or getting in 9:00AM Thursday with a season pass or...

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days Festival 2018! July 6th 7th 8th!

Storm!!! Sorry I missed you, some of my friends said you came by the campsite looking for me... Good story, you slept in the bed of your truck? Thursday night to do was very heavy, everything we had out was soaking wet! Not so bad Friday night and Saturday night though... I spent a good bit of...

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days Festival 2018! July 6th 7th 8th!

We'll be in the same row by the trees, buncha friends & friends of friends taking over half of rippers row there by the trees @ edge of barrel races. 20 of us Friday night 30+ for Saturday night, huge party!!! My old '62 GMC needs a lot of love right now so I'm pulling the trailer with a silver...

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days Festival 2018! July 6th 7th 8th!

Yes I'd imagine they're still doing the Lap of Legends, you'd have to look at the program guide scheduled to see, but they seem to do that every year, and I do think you have to donate $10 to the AMA museum fund or something... I managed to do it for free a few years ago due to some connections...

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days Festival 2018! July 6th 7th 8th!

In the 9 or 10 years I've been going to AMA VMD, it has progressively gotten bigger every year especially the past 4 or 5 years... Apparently attendance had dropped quite a bit prior to that from the old days. 2019 was the biggest year ever for attendance. Thousands and thousands of campers and...

AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days Festival 2018! July 6th 7th 8th!

Is anyone on GSR going to AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days 2021?!? I'll be there, although I need to sell a dirtbike or 2, so I might not be bringing a GS for the first time in the history of me going to AMA VMD...

    750/850 hybrid pistons search

Also, if you wanted 71mm GS850 big bore pistons for 900cc (894cc actually?), if you found 2 other interested buyers with 750's + 850 cylinders, or just a GS850, Wiseco would make you a minimum batch of 12 custom pistons (3 sets) for about the standard price, and you'd be able to use the...

    750/850 hybrid pistons search

A member named Ian / 49er custom designed a set of 71mm stock compression ratio pistons several years ago & had JE Pistons manufacture them for him. I think he also did a big big bore setup as well, but didn't really end up doing a lot with that engine as he was very pleased with the 890-ish cc...

    750/850 hybrid pistons search

And if you search the Honda CB forums, you will find lots of long-term reviews of those pistons in the CB big bore variety. This GS650 big bore kit however is a completely different issue, very careless and irresponsible on their part to sell such a thing that won't even fit the head, they...

    750/850 hybrid pistons search

Aside from the alleged GS650 740cc big bore pistons, the other pistons that Cruizin Image sells as big bore kits are hugely popular amongst the Honda crowd, with greater reviews for reliability, quality, etc I have a set of 70 mm GS 850 Pistons from them new in box still, and they appear...

    750/850 hybrid pistons search

You can get Cruizin Image pistons for 1mm GS850 oversize, they are basically a near exact OEM piston copy, 870cc. Why don't you want to go over 71mm? I successfully ran 72mm in 850 cylinders for years until a bad valve job (car machine shop inexperience) wrecked one cylinder. Thicker walls left...

    750 cams in a 1000?

I have ran both 750 and 850 cams in various incarnations of my GS750 big bore bike... The 850 cams should be the same as the 1000 cams, but the cam sprockets may or may not be different timings. And also I believe the lift is not the same between the 750 and 1000/850 cams, I believe the 1000...

    750/850 hybrid pistons search

He is absolutely correct, the pins are larger on the 1000. You need what I have 7 of, old MTC 72 mm GS850 pistons... Mine are not for sale, however! I thought I had bought the last set. Then due to a machine shop screwing up my valve job, I had severe detonation on one or two cylinders and...
