A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

You're right. The tank sticker was much better.... But you don't look at it when you are riding.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Yeah, it needs to go if for no other reason than saving 20 pounds.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Trevor was going to buy it a year ago but he bailed. Now I think I will paint the tank and enjoy it.... Even worse, the Corvette is lowered. Your butt is exactly 75mm off the ground. I now know why many have ripped seams on the drivers seat. That is where you grab to get out. If you can't get...

    Does This Oil Look Funny?

A trick I learned with a GS that the oil screen bolts were stripped was to (carefully) lay the bike over on its side with a tire or something to cushion it. MUCH better access to the bottom.....

Procedure after crankcase full of gas????

THe GS700 I believe is a plain bearing crank and should have higher oil pressure than the roller bearing bikes. It will also be way less tolerant of low oil pressure. Get one of these and hook up a guage...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Our 2 weeks of Winter are over in the PNW, and it has rained enough to wash the salt off the roads (although not the sand). I woke up some of the inhabitants for some exercise. Took Trevor's Free Bike to fill up with Ethanol free premium. As far as I can tell, this bike has NEVER had the carbs...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

That is not your usual style of bike, Dave....

    High RPM

For sure. And you take it too. No matter how long you have been riding you will learn something. They provide the right bikes. At the end you get a card that will qualify you for a bike license in your state. Riding without an endorsement can end up with you standing on the side of the road...

    I found a 1983 GS750ED

Did you have to put a metric speedometer on? Coming this way they don't care, as long as it is 25 years old.

Anyone here have any experience with this reg/rec?

If you replace your ignition with a Dyna S it can mount where the original ignition module went. You have just improved reliability on both systems... All my bikes have been converted to the SH775. Don't buy a "new" one from eBay, they are fake. Get a used one from a Polaris RZR800. Amazing how...

    .340 or .348 for 1166

Cam Motion was the manufacturer. They still make cams, but not for motorcycles. APE springs are the most common choice, they have 2 versions depending on cam lift.

Another sign of what is ahead for the motorcycle hobby...

I think part of the demographics might be that young people flat can't afford to buy a new car. I would not want to be young with a family in this economy, at least without a Tech job. $500k houses, $50k cars, $10 6-packs of beer... But "no inflation".

    .340 or .348 for 1166

Ray, do these work with stock guides? Optimum for a 1260 with +1 intakes and some port work for street\strip? Winter work on bike season is coming :)

    Weak cyl compress

Except for maybe NHRA Pro Stock Bike racers. They HAVE to use 2 valve heads and stock cases. Still go 6.90\195+ in the 1/4 https://www.nhra.com/news/2019/inside-pro-stock-motorcycle-engine

Out For The End Of The Season

I always go out of my way to fill up with Ethanol Free near the end of the season. Have a station nearby. Also many cardlock sites like CFN have Ethanol free if you have a card. https://www.pure-gas.org/

Another sign of what is ahead for the motorcycle hobby...

Here it is about 2:1 Harleys to sport bikes. Hardly see a BMW. But like I have said before my rural full line dealer has replaced the bikes with 4X4s and snowmobiles, 35 miles down the only road to Mt. Rainier in the area. THey say business is a lot better.

Always in 2nd gear...says the gear indicator

One of my GS1100es always shows 5 on the LCD indicator. Maybe this will motivate me to dig in...

Another sign of what is ahead for the motorcycle hobby...

5 of the largest Seattle dealerships suddenly close. One pundit blamed the Internet... 1 BMW, 2 Ducati, 1 Indian, 1 full line all owned by someone with no real experience...

Looking at the 2019 Yamaha FJR1300A. Any experience, opinions appreciated.

BTW 15-19 are the exact same bike except colors.
