    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Carburetors badly out of sync?

Even if the sync is way off, it only takes a few minutes of adjusting to correct. It takes longer to remove the tank, hook up everything than it takes to do a sync Sounds like you need a new mechanic. I nominate you

    The Little GS125 Carb Issues

First thing to check is, does that cheap filter block the openings on the mouth of the carb? Buy a better filter with an integral bellmouth, or, better yet, an airbox Your symptoms and testing indicate an air leak, lean running condition The mixture screw only controls idle mixture, set it...

To remove the cyl head or not? That is the question

A simple diagnosis would be to hit up your local chain auto parts store and "rent" the borescope Checking the condition of the valve faces and possibly the seats will provide a lot of information I wouldn't scrimp on valve adjustment. Do all of them now, even if it means redoing them in a few...

You won't get much, if any power increase from the modifications you propose. Maybe 5% That's after spending a bunch of money and lots of time retuning the carbs. After proper tuning with said mods, you gas mileage will drop. You would be better served to do a complete service, valve...

    81 gs1100e, a top end rebuild story

You should probably start a thread in the Projects forum The clutch hubs are well known to come loose. The welds means someone has fixed that issue so, no, it's not factory. The nut? Well, if you're not going to race the 1100 some blue Loctite and the stock nut should suffice

    Tappet Clearances below spec

How far down you go in shim size is based upon how much clearance you measure with the current shim If your 2.67 is at .02, go to 2.60 and rotate the cam a few times, then remeasure. Is it .09? If yes, then you're good. If it's .04, go to 2.55 and remeasure. Yes, it's a process. It gets easier...
