A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1982 GS1100G Rectifier wiring troubles

Eliminate the white box connector. The plastic is of poor quality and the contacts are junk. Replace it with individual connectors. These run cooler and won't pool the heat. Also new contacts are alloy and conduct better.

    1982 GS1100G Rectifier wiring troubles

Follow the three stator wires from the starter cover to the RR to be sure you are running them only to each other. A bad connector will get very hot due to the resistance from corrosion. Replace the connectors with new ones if they look discolored.

    GS650G crankshaft oil seal

My GS650G has developed a leak at the seal on the crankshaft behind the pickups. This is a 3 inch diameter seal which appears to be pressed in. The FSM offers scant information on this seal, in the assembly process it just shows the seal appearing on the engine after the halves are joined. I'd...

Increase in jet size on Mains ?

Increase in jet size on Mains ?

This sounds like a pilot problem not a main jet size issue. The mains have no bearing on the lower speed. The pilot sits in a well that fills with fuel and is metered to small passages that go to the idle screw. There are 3 small orifices that are presented to the engine as the throttle plate...

Increase in jet size on Mains ?

For what it's worth my 1000 g ended up with 112.5 mains and 42.5 pilots which is a little lean . The mains were 115 out of the factory. I've got a Vance and Hines 12500 pipe with no other mods. Compression is 140 lb across the board. I have a tiny stumble at 2800 rpm which some custom needles...

Increase in jet size on Mains ?

Believe it or not some pipes flow no better than stock. Testing and plug reading is the only way to know for sure on an engine with no other issues. Compression needs to be in spec for example as it determines much in the way it runs. Altitude matters if you are above 3000 feet, more for some...

Increase in jet size on Mains ?

I did the enrichment thing on my bikes because I had a pipe and everyone recommends massive increases in the Jets. After wasting a lot of time and gas I ended up at stock settings. Plugs read proper and no running issues. If you're having drivability issues enriching will only cover up a lean...

    Craigslist "funnies"

Bearings wear into eggs from spheres. And you can buy a bag of 100 new bearings for a few dollars that will allow proper adjustment. It's not safe to reuse old bearings believe it or not. I love the 10 dollar bolts he sells tho
