A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Fork Seals

It's raining right now but I'll take a quick snap tomorrow. I just ordered the fork seals. I guess I gotta get'em off and gett'em apart to see how bad the fork springs are.

    Fork Seals

Now that I think about it I'm not sure if they are the original rear shocks. How can you tell? Either way they have some surface rust. Yea I took it for a ride around a couple miles and scraped the pegs making a pretty normal 30mph turn

    Fork Seals

My motorcycle sat for 8 months before I got it running last week. When I bought it I noticed that the fork seals were leaking and by now I think they must be mostly drained out. The bike really easily bottoms out. So before I do anymore serious riding I want to fix this next. Is this an easy...

    Fabricating a proper Luggage Rack on a '81 GS850g

I saw plans on Basecliff's amazing webpage on how to create a luggage rack. My buddy is a welder and pretty into helping me make something has anyone done this? I would really like to mount a top box (seems easy enough) but I'm also interested in mounting some kind of side bags/cases for 2-up...

    Replacement turn signal switch.

Not sure if this should go here or in appearance...anyway the switch is missing but the signals work, they are just hard to use... The OEM replacement is like $125 on bike bandit but I found lots of cheap one on ebay. anyone want to recommend one that's trustworthy? Here's a pic of the offending...

Leaky O-rings on the Carb Nipples/ T connectors

Sorry. You misunderstood me. I did do it right this time and I did replace the O rings and the O rings in the intake boots. What I need is the O-rings that fit on those T pieces that connect each carb.

Leaky O-rings on the Carb Nipples/ T connectors

Ok with the help of my buddy I got my bike running again. Seems to be idling right this time. Now it's leaking gas out of the T connectors between the carbs. It seems that the o-ring is torn. Can I replace this with any correct sized o-ring?

    Replacement hose clamps?

You guys have been really helpful. It's good to know those clamps are really specific to the bike. I just ordered new O-rings from Robert (better safe then sorry) while I was at it I ordered replacement hardware for the carb boots. I am gonna take them off an check. Probably won't have time...

    Replacement hose clamps?

Got my carbs rebuilt by Chef1366. Finally got it back together and got the bike running. It will start but will run up to 3K then down to 1k. Throttle does nothing. I assume I have a vacuum leak. The Airbox boots are brand new (replaced them myself and seated them correctly) The Carb boots...

Weak spark no start on 81' Gs850G

The plugs are new. I suspect that the previous owner had the coils replaced and I suspect the issue is old wiring or a bad igniter. I don't think I will have time to check these things until next week. I have to go to a wedding on Halloween and I need to make really good costume. Thinking Quint...

Weak spark no start on 81' Gs850G

I bought a running gs80g that had a leaky Carb. Had the Carbs rebuilt by someone on this forum that was recommended. Put them back in. It was hard to start the bike but it started then ran up to 6k rpms then back down. I was confused, then I slowly realized I hadn't seated the new airbox boots...

    Airbox Snorkle

I looked at it again and it looks i didn't push the new airbox boots in enough, that could be the problem. Will investigate. Thanks guys! I checked one of the O-rings and it didn't look flat, I suppose they are so cheap I could replace them anyway

    Airbox Snorkle

The bike is hard to start and once it starts it surges up to 6k goes down then surges up. If you close the choke it surges up to 3k and dies. I realize I never put the snorkel back on is this the problem? One of the edges is slightly torn should I order a new one? I couldn't find one on the bike...
