A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Not Brand New, But New

Gotcha. Well, I'm really curious now. I haven't heard of any more efficient carbs for these 8 valve GS's than the stock Mikuni BS32. I can think of one 850 that's running a single carb with a custom manifold. That, as I recall, is more out of necessity and didnt yeild any gain in power. Grimly...

    Not Brand New, But New

Welcome back Jprice. I probably wasn't around yet when you were more active on this site, nonetheless, Welcome! Curious about your "going the newer route " with the carbs. Did you mean new cleaning methods, like ultrasonic, or different carbs?

    GS1000 "retromod" build questions

Sounds like you're going to have fun with this. Subscribed! I think member Agemax fitted a GSXR shock to his GS1000. Maybe his photos are somewhere else other than the bucket. https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/forum/technical-forums/appearance/61632-new-gsxr-rear-shock-ready-to-fit

Back at ya, Dave. Voting for Redman. The image, to me, is reminiscent of the opening to a cave. Possibly from The Goonies, with the carb drain screws as stelagtites, about to be crashed through by a pirate ship. Speaking of which, where are the drain screws on your carbs, Carter Turk ?

    GS550L mirror blur over 70mph

There are rubber dampers on my 850 and they seem to do their job. My KLR 640 was the worst, by far, but as a thumper I felt fortunate to keep the glass from vibrating completely out, haha. DimitriT I have some mirrors in the garage. If you want the dampers off of them, or the mirrors...

    Stator, The GSR travelling mascot.

That's awesome! Next time you come through, stop in Isleta Pueblo just South of Albuquerque for a Green Chile Cheeseburger. Or Laguna Pueblo West of town for a Laguna burger. Yum!

    Pic of the week game

20250907_212220 (1) by Roger, on Flickr Looking back at this pic now, the full moon in the background kinda looks more like a streetlight, or the sun. The light just looks uncharacteristically yellowish. Warm light rather than cool moonlight. I've had fun with these nighttime ride pics.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Good eye! No, I don't use the park position often. I couldn't get as far as I wanted away from traffic lanes and was trying to save battery power. I do regularly lock the wheel to the left, though. Always have. Did you ever figure out why yours got stuck? Maybe I'm pressing my luck using it...

Nice job uploading that video. The way you added the authentic GS engine sound and fake smoke from the exhaust to this "non running" bike, wow! Mad editing skillz! Edit: just noticed you edited the title too, haha.

That pic must have been taken looooong before it sat and decomposed inside. Looks really nice. I wouldn't have guessed all that crud was hiding in the carbs or tires.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Speking of reserve....... Went for a ride last night and really depended on the reserve. I guess the GS is mad for letting her sit for weeks. She made me sit and think about that for a while on the side of the road last night. I wanted to burn off some stabilized fuel instead of draining it...
