A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Dave, I sent Bill a couple of text messages shortly after he posted this and no response as of yet.

Yes sir, automotive plug wires. The 5K plug caps that are on the bike are just there for electrostatic noise suppression. It would be no different than replacing the little resistor inside the caps with a piece of brass rod.

Just get a pair of used or new plug wires, remove the boots and end connectors from them and re-crimp them in place of your old plug caps. Easy peasy. 30 minutes and you are back on the road.

Bill's broken down in Rock Springs Wyoming. His R/R doesn't appear to be working correctly. He was given a spare Honda R/R SH-678C-13 to take along which, according to the wiring diagram I just downloaded, should work with a permanent magnet alternator. He may need someone's assistance if this...

Does the bike appear to have a reasonable amount of power for what you asking it to do? What I'm getting at is, do you think you have power to get you through the the mountains without overworking the clutch? As it is your setup appears to be around 1,200Lbs.

So the noise we heard wasn't from the coupler?

Anymore popping noise from the trailer or did tightening the coupler take care of the issue?

There was a method posted on this board on how to repair them. Should work to get you home if they fail.

I have both. If you are not leaving until tomorrow maybe we can check the valves and sync the carbs before you leave. I won't be available from mid-late afternoon forward.

Bill is going to see if the gent he is staying with has a later Honda R/R that would work. I linked him Matchless's list. All is not lost yet. Plan B might have to take effect if he can't come up with one in his neck of the woods.

I believe he's aware of most of the pitfalls involved in towing the bike and trailer behind that 450. I tried to make the hitch as rigid as I could in order to minimize any possible sway. The only additional thing I would suggest he do that I haven't mentioned thus far is that he considers...

I'm doing OK today. The back feels much better. We did drop off the camper, In fact that's where I currently am. It's unfortunate that all I have time for is a quick trip up north just to return first thing in the morning. Had my mother not gotten ill last week a second trip to the same place...
