DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Rear Wheel Removal - Final Drive Unit - Hub/Spine Greasing

Good to hear, just noticed this thread - thanks growler, bwringer and all in this post. I need to pull apart mine and inspect/likely replace. Just got my Bel-Ray waterproof grease tub from Z1, need to get some moly 60 from Amazon or even the 77 now that I know that will suffice. The 60 is hard...

    Been doing some zinc plating

I've never tried zinc playing although I may after seeing this but agreed, painting and brewing become better with practice! My stance was it's an "acquired taste" and everyone that tried it apparently hadn't acquired the taste...

    Drew's 850 L Restoration

Awesome. That is a milestone - and a major one at that! I hope to have mine in a little later this week. I just use a ratchet strap and a come along slung up over the rafters and slide it in from one side and then support it with a jack while I switch the back strap up over the frame to the...

    Help Solve Mystery Leak

Phred, not likely the the problem but I'd also check the lengths of wire for continuity at the switch and gauge for neutral and 5th if you haven't already.

    Help Solve Mystery Leak

No worries - it's different than the 8V versions I've seen. I should know tomorrow night if my reseal did the trick!

    Help Solve Mystery Leak

This must be a little different or I didn't go in that far: I used simple green and some black Permatex to re seal the o ring the switch itself is sealed so hopefully the RTV will seal the o ring until I can get one shipped. Will report back if it doesn't seal. Thanks Chuck!

Strange - the fiche doesn't show a spring. This is from my 83 750ES. The seal is #39. http://www.partsoutlaw.com/oemparts/a/suz/50d40104f8700230d8b4e3f5/gear-shifting

    Help Solve Mystery Leak

Thanks Chuck, will do. Hoping a clean a and re-seal will do the trick. It's a very slow leak but may as well seal it up while I have the cover off...

    Help Solve Mystery Leak

Seems that I have developed a leak around the gear position indicator.. After cleaning everything up and running the bike for a few minutes on the paddock while changing the chain and sprockets I noticed some brown around the front of the gear position sensor wiring plug after spraying with foot...

Brand new powder coated tank question

Yep. Dawn, simple green and some watered down isopropyl alcohol. It dulled it down a little more since I took the photo but it's still there. Maybe I just need to keep after it.

Brand new powder coated tank question

Thanks Tom, I plan on asking him - figured I'd consult the experts here first to make sure there wasn't something I was missing. I went back on forth on paint vs. powder for a while figured if I was going to take it down to bare metal that I may as well pony up for the most durable finish...

Brand new powder coated tank question

For the powder coat experts - spent many hours blasting, sanding and prepping my tank and had it costed flat matte black. Got it home, had some surface rust inside from the phosphorous (?) adhesion promoter that the coater used. I filled it with apple cider vinegar for several days and wasn't...

Polishing valve shims to the right thickness

I have been dealing with Ray (Ghostgs1) and he has been great. The Post Office lost (or damaged?) the original shipment and he was willing to re-ship them to me at half the price. The package wasn't insured or trackable sadly, but out of the many shipments he has sent, it's probably one of the...

    84 GS750 EF resto-mod The "Diversion" Project

Good to hear, iI'd hate for the Missus to break your other/good arm! Smoking deal - 3 bikes >$1000!?? Awesome. Deals like that you simply can't pass up and hopefully your lady understands that. Mine does, at least currently although the last bike I brought home she said if I don't finish and...

    84 GS750 EF resto-mod The "Diversion" Project

Sorry to hear about your arm. Not fun! Do you live in Canada? Think I read that before, you should add it to your profile so it shows up on every post FYI. Where are you finding these bikes, classified? Wish I had a few options like those where I live... I've wanted an EFE since I first saw...

Anyone consider mounting fan on their carbs?

This thread has rapidly moved past the point where this is as relevant, but years ago I wired 2) 12V computer case fans to the tranny cooler on my 4Runner. When the A/T trans light kicked on trailering a heavy load up in the mountains during summer, I would switch them on and cool the trans down...

    Drew's 850 L Restoration

Curious how yours cures/hardens with the heat lamps, mine will be internally cured once I get it painted and carefully back into the frame, which I am also touching up. Blasted mine out in my circle last night (neighbors love me, I'm sure but last time I soda blasted some carbs, the grass...
