I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hagon Road Shock Fitting for '77 GS550

I called DCC yesterday and they said the springs were "175-200" I couldn't find any spring rates for the GS550 on Hagon's website so don't know what to compare that to. I assume that if I call Z1 it will go to the same line to get information about parts, as they're basically the same company...

    Show me your de-Led GLs!

Where did you get that seat? It looks like it uses the original seat pan but with a very professional looking cover replacement.

    Possible petcock fix?

In the straight up position it would act as an OFF position, regardless of the condition of the vacuum diaphragm/o-ring. You could use PRI as "on", which would draw from the "reserve" bottom of the tank and Straight Up as "off". Here are the different positions broken down: Starting from the...

Hagon Road Shock Fitting for '77 GS550

I'm fixing up a 1977 GS550 I picked up last month. Just installed new Sonic Springs and want to replace the rear shocks. I have Hagons on my GS750 and want to do the same but can't buy direct from Hagon after they closed their US operations a couple of years ago (or I could, but I'd rather not)...

K&N Air Filter Replacement (Non-Pod) and Potential Exhaust upgrade for my GS750

I had bought clutch springs a while back and tossed them in a few days ago. Honestly it feels like a different bike coming out of first. Before as I let the clutch it would drag for a second and it engages quickly and smoothly now. Handles full throttle better, too. I had never messed with my...

    Twin '77 GS550 Projects

Got some OEM replacement gaskets for the petcock for the #2 bike and flushed the vinegar in the tank and filled it up. The inside is spotless now which is really satisfying. I also bled the brake line which actually works great now, despite the original lines (swapping them out for both bikes...

K&N Air Filter Replacement (Non-Pod) and Potential Exhaust upgrade for my GS750

Well I dropped in the K&N after following the oiling instructions. Took it out on the highway and it was still bogging down at anything past 1/3-1/2 throttle. Pulled the carbs off and found THIS: Needless to say the bike rips now after screwing that jet back in :) I rebuilt the carbs before...

    Are EMGO bars any good?

I have Emgo superbike bars on my GS750. In the price range at the time, those were the shape/style/position that worked best. They've been fine and I rode across the country twice on them. Recently, I've been wishing I had bars with a slightly higher rise to them that looked more like the stock...

Carb is *@%^$*@%^$*@%^$*@%^$ing gas like a cow

A fairly common source of leaks to look out for are the "fuel rail" pieces that go between the carbs. Between 2&3 is the fuel "T" and between 1&2 and 3&4 are straight connectors with O-rings. Any of these linkages can leak, especially if the O-Rings between 1&2 and 3&4 are original. They come...

K&N Air Filter Replacement (Non-Pod) and Potential Exhaust upgrade for my GS750

Reviving this thread - I've noticed more this summer that my bike is hesitating at close-to WOT throttle pulls. I pulled the UNI air filter to inspect, clean and re-oil and it essentially came apart in my hands as I was washing it. I bought the K&N SU-1200 replacement filter that should be...

    Twin '77 GS550 Projects

I've put together one good petcock from three that I had lying around: However, the filter that went with this body was slightly different than the two from the other petcocks. They had a small tab that you can see in the picture that I believe I can just shave off. Has anybody done this...

    Twin '77 GS550 Projects

I got the #2 bike (green one, mine) running over the weekened. First start in 39 years after a valve adjustment and a full carb clean with new O-Rings and intake O-rings. New OEM air filter as well. Idles well and it was nice to see decades worth of grime smoking up off of the engine (even after...

    Twin '77 GS550 Projects

We've added a few bikes to my household over the past few months. More specifically, we've added three of the same bike. The first was an '81 GS550 that had essentially been restored. This weekend we picked up two 1977 GS550's. One for my other roommate and then I had to get one to match, too...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Man your bike is stellar. I like the matched paint on the bottom shock spring :)

    GS750 to GS1000 Engine Swap

My GS750 is a little weary and the fifth gear is on its way out. The whole bike needs a bit of a makeover and I want to do the GS1000 engine swap and a couple other upgrades. I have a potential donor motor from a forum member. The plan is to gather all the parts through the summer/fall and then...

what did you wrench on today??

My clutch cable snapped last year and I replaced it with an old one that I had on me. Finally got a new one to throw in since I was worried my backup was wearing out. I like to take the whole clutch cover off since it's a little easier to maneuver the cable out and had to drill out one of the...
