A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

At around 3pm we made it to camp at our already established site at the Kettle Creek State Park, in the never-used equestrian camp. It’s nicer and more private than the two established campgrounds in the park, the only downside is a lack of clean drinking water. It turned out we had a few...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Bellies full but tanks working their way to “reserve” we kept riding on beautiful twisty roads through the Northern PA forests up to Galeton to fill up the bikes and to grab some beer for camp. A mile out of Galeton I started to feel my GS buck a bit, 135 miles on the odometer as I recall…...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

continuation of my PA ride report: The morning of the first day greeted us with some very nice, cool and overcast weather. We finished packing the bikes up and hit the road around 8:30 or so, riding along gorgeous Central PA back roads that alternate between following along creeks, up and...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Haha my brother and I were definitely glad to hear that Rich is all about the dirt road riding. My only qualm with it is it got my sparkly clean GS1100E looking like I had ridden the Paris Dakar with all the crazy powdery red dust that my brother was kicking up riding in front. I didn't...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Per my understanding, not only did they fix the first year issues but for 1978 "E" they had to "hotrod" the bike a good bit to get the straightline performance in line with the then-new Suzuki GS750 and it's 12.83 second quarter mile. The XS750E introduced transistorized ignition (GS750 kept...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I'm writing up a ride report for the two day ride in Central PA that I just completed on my 1100E with my brother (where we met up with Rich) over on ADVrider, I may recreate the thread/report over here as well later, but in the mean time here is a link...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

This one is a '79 that we bought last spring as a 5k mile barn find. Untouched with original 1979 tires and brake fluid when purchased, unfortunately the guy we bought it off of went monkeying with the carbs and installed some kind of cheap generic carb/jet kit that took some time to undo and...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

It was a pleasure meeting your Rich! We'll definitely try to arrange next year's Central/Northern PA tour to have you join us! As for the meal at Kavkaz, you had "borscht" a very classic Russian beet and potato soup based on a beef stock, and a "samsa" which is a small meat-filled pastry/pie...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Apologies for a total lack of any photos as we didn't really stop anywhere scenic, but I rode my new-to-me 02 Bandit 1200 and met up with a buddy on his new-to-him 2003 Super Glide on the West side of Indy and we ended up riding out towards Mooresville and then South from there towards...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Haha it was just a tiny bit of gravel, several hundred yards at most. I'm no stranger to the stuff have always ridden my UJMs on various forest access type roads for stealthy camping etc.

what did you wrench on today??

I'm lucky enough to live a short ride away from Brian (bwringer) so he graciously offered to go through my 1100E's electrical system before my PA tour this week. Got rid of that little headlight loop that had partially cooked a connector, cleaned up the fuse holders (will replace with a blade...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Had the pleasure of meeting up with Brian (bwringer) for a nice little 60 mile evening ride north of Indianapolis tonight. Not a whole lot of scenery or twisty roads out this way... we found a few corners and a cool dilapidated old bridge (Scotland Bridge, maybe Brian got a pic of it, I...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Hey Redman how's that Grand Caravan do with a light utility trailer+motorcycle? I've got a similar vintage Town&Country that I'm considering making my primary motorcycle hauler instead of my thirstier old Suburban

    Hello from Indianapolis IN

I'm definitely aware of the oil burning issue, I will say at my current rate of riding, I doubt I will even notice as I will struggle to put so much as 1000 miles on this thing per riding season I suspect. Most of my motorcycle hobby seems to revolve moreso around wrenching on the old ones...

Good modern tire size option for GS650G?

I ended up ponying up for the Avons to get that "right size," about $100 more for the pair than the Shinko 712s I've been throwing on all these other GSes, but I know Avons are a very high quality tire (although I have zero complaints about Shinkos over the years as well).

Good modern tire size option for GS650G?

Ah excellent, I had actually just stumbled upon these as well. I mentioned 100/90-19 in the first post but I think I'll actually get 90/90-19 (that they conveniently also offer these Avons in) as that is much closer to OEM 3.25-19. I want to keep the lighter steering nature of this...

Good modern tire size option for GS650G?

Hi All, Making steady progress on my GS650G revival, I'm ready to order up some tires for it. Front seems straightforward: 100/90-19. Now for the rear, I see many people relent and simply install a wider 130/90-17. This gives the widest range of options and per my understanding should not...

    Hello from Indianapolis IN

Hi All, I've been hanging around for a few weeks now, thought I might do one of these intro threads finally. I've been on a motorcycle since I was 15 when my brother and I dragged a ratty free XS400 Special II home in the back of his van to tinker with. One thing lead to another, we soon had a...
