A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Stator and R/R Replacement on a 650G

Oh, nice. My references were these vendors: https://www.worldoftriumph.com/products/t2500676 https://oem-bike-parts.com/en/parts/triumph/2009/street-triple-560476-2009/alternator-starter-motor/p/t2500676-triumph-link-lead-regulator https://www.wemoto.com/parts/picture/th-t2500676...

    Stator and R/R Replacement on a 650G

After some consideration and some math, I have decided to go with both a stator and a R/R from RMStator. With a SH775 running somewhere around $45 USD plus shipping, and the Triumph harness being $37 USD plus shipping, the cost difference between the SH775/Triumph vs RMStator is about $40USD...

    Stator and R/R Replacement on a 650G

Thank you very much! I was able to find it easily with these directions! With the heatsink pointing down, a visual inspection wasn't enough to locate it. Based on the advice of numerous people, I believe I will be replacing both the Stator and the R/R to simplify matters. With that said, the...

    Stator and R/R Replacement on a 650G

I recently got my 1981 GS650G, and it came needing a valve adjustment and a new battery. After installing a new battery and taking care of the valve adjustment, I went on a shakedown run to see if there was anything else that needed work. Turns out, I found out why it needed a new battery. It...

    Bent Camshaft or Uneven Wear?

I believe the cams are stock, but this is a new-to-me bike so I can't say for sure. I do not have the cam cover off at this point in time, but I will probably get it off at some point to fix the valve noise caused by the larger clearance. I'll take a look at the cam bearings and journals when I...

    Bent Camshaft or Uneven Wear?

Hello! I picked up a 1981 GS650G recently that had issues stalling when I pulled in the clutch with no throttle input. After some research on here, I found this thread that offered a solution...

Missing Parts and Other New To Me Woes

Thanks so much for the listing! I was able to get replacement washers, o-rings and springs from a local shop, though the springs are taller than the stock ones. I believe they will work with some minor adjustments but in the case that they do not I will keep this listing in mind! On an update...

Missing Parts and Other New To Me Woes

Thanks for letting me know, I didn't realize that BikeCliffs site had so many how-tos on it! The Zip Tie Supplement is very interesting but if that's the alternative I think I'll be okay to get the tappet depressor. I'm paranoid about damaging . . . really anything on my bike, so sticking...

Missing Parts and Other New To Me Woes

I have questions to those who would know better than I, though it might be better to make a new thread in the Engine/Drivetrain/Clutch Forum... What diameter shims do these tappets need? All the kits that I see are for a specified diameter and for the prices I'm seeing I'd really appreciate not...

Missing Parts and Other New To Me Woes

Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for, I'm going to be much more confident going into the dip now! This is also very helpful, and gives me at least a serial number to start my looking! Thanks @rphllips I've definitely been very impressed so far! I've been a part of a couple other...

Missing Parts and Other New To Me Woes

Hey all! I just picked myself up a 1981 GS650G (non-Katana)! When I got it it needed a new battery but would start and run if jumped or bumped. However, it would stall whenever I pulled in the clutch with no throttle input. My first thought was carbs, but after reading through this topic...
