A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Current state of Bikebandit

After a month without hearing anything I just went down the street and picked up the tube one from a local shop. Should have done that to start with. I really just wish they could have let me know so I didn't keep saying to myself "it will only be a few more days". Humorously enough, I just...

    Issues with GS450L Tensioner remain

In my experience I have never been able to turn the knob CW. The plunger spring should be pushing it as far in (clockwise) as it should need to go.

    Murray's 4 into 2 Carb kit

Has anybody seen in person or heard of somebody using one of these four into two carb kits or something similar for another four cylinder GS? Is it even possible that it would perform better than stock? https://murrayscarbs.com/product/suzuki-gs550-mikuni-vm34-carb-kit/

    GS450 Rebuild

Pete I'm curious - My GS450 engine makes a slight ticking noise when cold ever since I did the 500cc swap. It goes away after a minute or two and isn't anything alarming. Did you notice anything like yours?

    GS450 Pison replacements

If you can find a good set of GS500 cylinders/pistons, there's no difference in the work you'll have to do to swap them in versus replace the original 450 pistons with another set. Here's my walkthrough of my GS500 cylinder swap that also might give you an idea of what you'll be getting into...

Scratching noise at certain RPMS and loss of power

So I did some checks on the bike and have it back together now. Valves are in spec. Carbs are good. Took it out again and the noise happens exactly when I shift into 5th gear. It'll pull strong in 4th, then I shift into 5th going 65mph and there's a scratching/wining noise and it will barely...

    New to an '82 GS450 L

Hey and congrats on the new bike. For the valve clearances, I say just jump into it. You're probably going to have it apart for several days the first time you do it but if you have as much as you can on hand, the downtime should be minimal. 1. You should be able to buy or rent one for free...

Scratching noise at certain RPMS and loss of power

My GS750 (8valve) started making a scratching noise at certain RPMs on a recent trip and has noticeably less power/response. I rode out ~130 miles and back and it happened sometime right in the middle and has been like that since. The noise will go away in certain gear/RPM combinations. For...

K&N Air Filter Replacement (Non-Pod) and Potential Exhaust upgrade for my GS750

My 1977 GS750 is basically stock and has been running great for the past few years. I've never replaced/cleaned the airbox filter but it's probably time. There's currently a UNI filter. Does anybody have experience with the K&N oem-style replacements? For my bike it's the SU-1200 - you can get...

GS400 Only Firing on left Cylinder

Sounds like something in your wiring or maybe a bad condenser for the right cylinder. Next, I'd try swapping the left/right condensers and seeing if the behavior follows.

    GS450 Rebuild

Thanks, Pete! For the cylinder swap, it was super straight forward. I used the GS500 cylinder head gasket and the GS450 base gasket and O-rings. I made a separate thread for the engine mods in order to consolidate all the info for anybody else who wants to do it and should update it after I...

    GS450 Rebuild

hello - Again I'm back after a while with no updates. This time I'm done! I took last week off work and spent a bunch of time finishing some projects. For the GS, I finished up the wiring and seat upholstery and made sure everything was tightened up and road ready. This thing rips. I can...
