A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey Zak. Welcome aboard! That's interesting, the 850 was given to you if you WOULD do the cafe project. Often it's the other way around with a plea not to. I really like the '83 850G and have been through a dozen or so states so far on mine. Doesn't sound like you intend to put in long days on...

    Questions for the HVAC guys

Thanks for chiming in, dorkburger. Also JMHJ and Rich82GS750TZ . Indeed, this was another lesson in why we do our own work on things. I can't be so proud as to not accept help from anyone, being a bit more careful about who I use OTOH is the takeaway here. i am actually grateful for the other...

    1983 gs850G valve cover breather

It's not supposed to be fine steel wool. That would be too dense and just plug the passage. The stock mesh stuff is more like chore boy scouring pad that's porus enough to let gasses through, but catch the oil as Dgates1 mentioned. Do you have an air box or are you running pod filters?

    Pic of the week game

For me, the obsession...er..um...I mean enthusiasm for taking pictures of my bikes and playing photo games started with this pic. I posted it to answer the challenge by Jedz123 in the riding game thread.

    Questions for the HVAC guys

I did a quick pressure test last night with nitrogen and only got up to 50psi before noticing leaks, unfortunately that was no surprise. The system max pressure is 500lbs. Also I pulled the cover off of the coil on top of the furnace, and saw the pinched line on the low side. That was the 3/8...

He was my first thought as well. I thought I had his contact info, but can't find it. Let's see if he chimes in or gets an email notification for the PM i sent.

    Questions for the HVAC guys

A few years ago we installed a new Goodman furnace with a 4 ton coil on it. We couldn't afford to complete the split AC system right then, so we left it for later. A year later, maybe two years ago, we remodeled our kitchen and I ran a gas line to the stove, removing the electric stove and...

    Pic of the week game

Wow, didn't expext to win with that pic. I was chasing jackrabbits on the KLR that day. They're too quick in the corners for me. For this week's theme....... Park. (open for other interpretations as usual) 20171130_153318 by Roger, on Flickr

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I recently learned I was walking by Jim Morrison's (former) residence every day on the way to school. His dad was stationed here on Kirtland AFB in 1952. It wasn't till 1987 that I lived in this neighborhood, but still pretty cool to find this out, plus I was the same age he was walking these...

Thanks for the info, Rich. And just like that, there are signatures haha. Guess I'm a creature of habit and always have latest activity checked.

Friendly reminder. Don't forget to flush........

I still haven't figured out the multi quote feature on this new setup. Someday I'll dig into that and also see how to get signatures back. Vmass, those on demand tankless heaters are sweet! I've helped install a few Rinnai units, haven't see a Navien. We always had to run a bigger gas line for...

Friendly reminder. Don't forget to flush........

That would be interesting to see inside it. Not too many houses here have basements. My aunt has one, only one in the neighborhood. When the main sewer line backed up, her basement became the neighborhood sump.

    Removing old gas residue

Acetone was the only chemical that DID remove a liner for me.

Nope, I'm on the Martinez project, tile demolition today. Pulled the sink already and stayed off the pipes. Hehe

Friendly reminder. Don't forget to flush........

It's a gas unit. The cast iron tank shouldn't make any noise, certainly not this much anyway. It didn't for the few years we've had it, at least. Souds like a rock tumbler. I did not replace the zinc rod, but do plan to soon.

Friendly reminder. Don't forget to flush........

..........YOUR WATER HEATER. I spent three hours on Saturday draining and flushing what looked like aquarium sand and gravel out of my water heater. It had been making knocking and popping noises for months, even after draining it. I tried turning on the water in short bursts to stir up the...
