A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I didn't get a pic but it had rained here and washed away the road salt. It hit a high of 62 this afternoon but I had some dental work done and I needed to take a painkiller and take it easy. I still did a neighborhood lap on the GS1100E. It was awesome.

    Mecum Vegas 2025

I'm not seeing many Suzuki GS bikes for sale at mecum, I think there are a couple Katanas coming up and a Wes Cooley GS1000 sold for $12,650 earlier.

    OK what u think 1981 GS850G

The XS 850 that I saved at first would not start no matter what I tried. I did all of the usual things, plugs, tires, brakes, cleaned the carbs, battery etc. I got out the voltmeter and realized that there was an enormous voltage drop over the fuse panel. I went to O'Rielly's and found a four or...

First Suzuki is an 81 GS1100E

The GS now has a set of RS36's with K&N's. The odometer began re-setting and recording miles. Hopefully it will keep on working. It seems to be my go-to rider when it's warm enough outside.

    reserve at 1/2 tank?

Update, the issue hasn't returned, I've ridden it down pretty low a couple times and experienced no missing. On one trip I did make it to a proper reserve level, if I recall correctly it took a tad over 3.5 gallons to re-fill it. I did the RS36 carburetor swap and got a new set of K&N filters.

    Tuning with an air/fuel meter.

After riding the bike in cold air it seems lean so I'm putting it back in the carbs as delivered configuration. I've noticed a tendency of my test rig to read rich, I'm wondering if the length and diameter of the probe cause it to run too cool to read properly.

I installed the SH775 but need to know how to replace the circuit at the light.

I was also confused about the two unconnected wires. I followed them in the diagram, but it wasn't explained to me what the reason that we could leave them unconnected was. Now I get it. I'm pretty familiar with Honda CB750 and GL1000 wiring but this is my first learning experience with a...

    first time Suzuki drag racing

My brother was in a bad motorcycle wreck in Japan in 62'. A dump truck backed out from an obstruction into his path. He had a skull fracture and twice broken jaw. He survived with a few lasting effects and actually did ride a lot afterwards. He worked at Honda/Suzuki and Kawasaki shops. A...

New bike in the garage...need a little help with what model it is....

You need to remember it took a while for new model bikes to get here from Japan. They would need lead time to have the new models here and available to show by September. In 1975 Mr. Honda lost a lawsuit over giving left-over bikes new titles for the next year. Just to prove that he could, they...

    first time Suzuki drag racing

A few years ago I was at the US Nationals and approached a helmet maker, when I asked for one that was good for running my dragster and my bike, they looked at me like they had never heard the question before. I got a new snell rated helmet so I could fake my way through both. So far I've done...

    KPH speedometer Q?

I bought a used mph speedometer pod but the trip odometer on the bike started working. The gas gauge also went to full when I topped off the gas so I'd say it just needs the exercise. The silver trim looks a little better on the replacement so maybe this winter I'll take one apart.

    Gs1100g super rich

More than once I've found jets enlarged either on purpose or by enthusiastic cleaning with drills or torch tip cleaners. The number on the outside of the jet was left intact. Also, aftermarket jets can't be counted on to be correct.

    !@#$% Tube!

I've used the tongue jack on my trailer to break the bead, of course the trailer was on the hitch at the time. I usually have some wood blocking to set the tire on. Just one idea if you're in the campground or pits.

Custom Covers on Metal Seat Pans?

There is a metal strip that can be pop riveted to the pan, it's called shark teeth. Stretch the vinyl over and let the teeth bite in, then tap it flat. Or short pop rivets through the vinyl directly.

I think I owned every model 69-78, they can still be found in good condition reasonable, A GL1000 which was cheap, $100 but took $1500 to get it back to running shape. I also used the triumph one off of ebay. Somehow i lost a red wire down into the wire bundle, it ran but had a low voltage issue due to back feeding somehow. Once it all got connected it's great.
