DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. Accessory Wiring (GPS)

I just picked up this off of CL. I'm trying to determine the best way to wire in the charging mount. I suppose the + side should be connected to a switched 12V supply, but which one I am unsure of. Think there would be any problem just connecting directly to the battery? Other than it...

Slide diaphragm replacement, oh what fun!

Oh absolutely! But my time is cheap. (If I calculated the time I spent making my Top End Oiler kits, I would certainly be deep in the red, & I wouldn't have sold them so cheap) And I enjoy doing it. At the very least, maybe someone will see what I've done & think of a better way, & be inspired...

Slide diaphragm replacement, oh what fun!

Yeah, these new diaphragms are thicker than the original ones. So there is no way you could install them on the slides without taking them apart. The little instruction sheet that came with the parts made it seem like you could re-swedge the top of the slide to secure it, but there just wasn't...

Slide diaphragm replacement, oh what fun!

No, they were actually listed as Suzuki Diaphragms. Not really cheap at about $35 a pop, but better than the alternative I guess... Actual machining and assembly was only a couple hours for all four. But I spent a fair bit of time thinking about exactly how I wanted to put them back together...

Slide diaphragm replacement, oh what fun!

I got the diaphragms from e-bay seller "nikau" I have no intention of doing any type of slide repair. It takes too long, and from a cost standpoint, it ain't worth it. But I really didn't feel like giving Suzuki $116 per slide for new ones. I just thought some folks might be interested in seeing...

Slide diaphragm replacement, oh what fun!

Back to it, at last. Back to it, at last. The first thing I did was machine a split collar to grip the slide without damaging it. Bored it, then tapped it 1"-32. Why the odd tap size you ask? Just one I happened to have, and it was a good size, leaving the slide walls plenty thick...

    Dent removal from factory muffler?

Try heating and slapping an ice cold wet rag on it. Might pop it out. If you have a heat gun, I'd try that first before a torch.

    Got my GS 750's

I wonder if those anti-dive units could be fitted to a set of US spec '83 750ES forks? I put that front end on my 1100ES so I could run the 16" front wheel.

Slide diaphragm replacement, oh what fun!

I thought about that. I'm probably going to need to make threaded retainers for the diaphragms, I think I will have to machine the ID of the slides to account for the excess weight.

Slide diaphragm replacement, oh what fun!

Getting them apart Getting them apart After marking the slide bodies so I can reorient the diaphragm tab correctly, I chucked the slides in the lathe & machined the flange that is rolled over to hold the diaphragm. Careful. Don't want to cut too deep. There, slide comes apart. Four...

Slide diaphragm replacement, oh what fun!

Started thinking about replacing the diaphragms on my slides. A couple were damaged. Just the diaphragm, not the entire assembly. Got 4 new ones from a guy in Australia. I also was curious about the weight of the assemblies. I had a brand new slide and it weighed in at 57.34gr. the old ones...
