A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Aftermarket swingarm ID?

Eccentric adjusters make me think it might be an older Metmachex arm.

    Oil Usage

Everything measured up great. Valve seals, pistons, rings, pins, all new, fresh bore & hone 12,000 miles ago. The leaks were from a damaged shifter shaft, stripped hole in clutch cover, and bad o-ring on cam chain tensioner. Again, I thought the oil loss was from leakage. But the leak-down &...

    Oil Usage

Having a weird issue. Engine is using a lot of oil. Enough that I must keep a diligent eye on the level. Now here's the weird part. No leaks, (maybe a small drip from the shifter, just a drop or two every other week or so) not being burned, no smoke from the exhaust. Now there IS smoke coming...

    Adjusting valves w/degreed cams

Just wondering what the general consensus is. Do you turn the crank until the "T" mark lines up, and adjust the appropriate valves. Or do you look at the notches in the cams to see when they are parallel to the top of the head? Of course, when the cams are degreed, the "T" and the notch on the...

    530 Chain

Anyone use a "Bikemaster" O-ring chain? Like this one:http://www.ebay.com/itm/530-Conversion-Chain-Sprocket-GS1150-E-ES-84-86-15-42T-/320558770562?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item4aa2caa982#ht_1080wt_1465 Curious about the quality of the chain.

Front Master Cylinder swap 1150 vs. 700?

    1150E--59600-45X51, supersedes: 59600-45420 1150ES--59600-08A10 700ES--59600-33470 700E--59600-45X51, supersedes: 59600-45420 Looks like the 1150E & 700E are the same. Still available from Suzuki, $240 approx. MC for 1150ES & 700ES are no longer available. I think I bought the last 1150ES MC a...

    Updgardinr 1100ES Brakes

No other reason other than I happened to be looking at the ATK I had at the time. And I need one for my 1100, which has a 750 forks & wheel.

    83 Katana 1100 Race Build-Rim Change

'87 GSX-R 1100 forks & wheels would work rather well, I would think. Although the wheels are 18" IIRC.

    Updgardinr 1100ES Brakes

It's only been about 7 months It's only been about 7 months Done!!! (except for polish & anodize) I'm not sure though. Looks kind of bulky & overbearing. Maybe because I don't have the fender mounted? Any thoughts, critiques?

    GS1100ED & GS1150 front wheel interchangeability

750 & 1100 forks are totally different. At least '83 750 are. 750 --legs are longer, no adjustable preload or damping. Fender & caliper mounts are different. 750 triple is wider. (1150 is even wider still) Besides the obvious difference in wheel diameter, 750 is 2.15 wide. 1100 is 1.85 wide.

    Top End Oiler Project

Actually there are two thread forms for British pipe. BSPP (British Standard Pipe Parallel) BSPT (British Standard Pipe Taper) The threads that Suzuki used on their temp sensors are of the taper variety.

GS550mz Katana transformed to GS550 bobber?

Don't. It'd be a shame to butcher that bike.

    Top End Oiler Project

I have about 10 sets machined, but have not been able to scrape up the cash to purchase the components that I don't make myself. i.e. the fittings, & oil lines. I know this is taking me a lot longer than anticipated. Sorry about that. @chef: Don't forget the Suzuki temp sensor is a British...

    Broken Mixture Screws.....Dag Nabbit

You can probably order the mixture screw from Sudco: http://www.sudco.com/ The "bushing" I made myself from an old mixture screw.

Can anybody clarify this carb modification?

I don't do metric. (except for some threads) And I make my living measuring stuff.

    Broken Mixture Screws.....Dag Nabbit

I've been using my buddy's RS36s on my 1150 for a couple years now. I picked up another set so I could get his back to him. As I was disassembling the new (to me) set, I discovered that 3 of the 4 mixture screw were broken off in the carb bodies. GRRRRRRR. Anyway, I devised a plan to fix 'em...

Can you ID this front end, and fork brace?

Fender is Katana. Looks like Katana yokes as well. If the forks have rebound adjustment, (small knob near bottom of the fork leg, can't tell from the photo) probably an 1100 Katana. If no rebound, either a 750 or 1000 Katana. Fork brace looks to be a Telefix.

    GS1150 Valve cover finish?

Krylon makes black wrinkle too. And you can use plain old sunlight to heat the part (Unless you're single & don't have an old lady to nag at you). Needs to be an area that is relatively breeze free for best results.
