    Gsx1100ex fusebox upgrade?

That's a fact, there was so much voltage drop it wouldn't start. Once I replaced the fuse box it fired right up. Of course, I had already done all of the other things you usually do with a bike that's been sitting.

    Tuning with an air/fuel meter.

It clears well now. The frame had pipe insulation and KZ tank cushions on it to keep the tank up off of the #1 carb top. It still rubbed a little, the 36's clear beautifully. I haven't gotten after it yet, but it clearly takes less throttle to get the same acceleration that it had with the 29's...

    Gsx1100ex fusebox upgrade?

I see the 82-up fuse boxes have blade fuses. I haven't found one with the wiring plug yet, but it appears to take spade type connectors. I need to see if vintage connections has that plug. Littlefield makes a 5 blade fuse holder that you can get at O'Reilly auto parts or elsewhere. #350417BP...

    '81 GS1100E skinned with '82 GS1000G/GK body parts.

At the risk of a hijack, how about swapping the 82/83 1100E body parts onto an 81 1100E?

Sandcast GS1100E? OK this is a nonsense post just weird to see this.

It also might have had a bad chrome job removed with a coarse wire wheel.

    Tuning with an air/fuel meter.

I got the Mikuni 36 mm radial flatslides on today, it now has the flatslide rattle. Installation was easy, it started easily, no leaks and idled right immediately. I didn't get the push pull throttle, it's due on monday so a real test will need to wait. I'm excited to compare the air/fuel ratios...

    reserve at 1/2 tank?

I tested the petcock today, I put the fuel line in a gas can and pulled a vacuum on the petcock with a hand pump. It drained down to where I assume is correct (about 4 gallons) and when put on reserve it drained most of the remaining fuel. This leaves me with no idea why it started missing at...

    Tuning with an air/fuel meter.

The 36's should be here today, the filters tomorrow and the push-pull throttle on monday. I'm helping a friend put a hood on a blown 41 Willys today.

    Tuning with an air/fuel meter.

Absolutely. There is a good exhaust flow through the probe, it's similar to the ones I've seen used at chassis dyno's. There is no danger of blocking flow in the Kerker on the GS. I've used it on cb750 4-4's with a drilled baffle, RC engineering 4-1, and the GL1000.

    Tuning with an air/fuel meter.

Here is the unfinished probe on my goldwing but you get the idea. EDIT: you were correct, copying my buddy's dyno exhaust probe didn't work great. Read rich.

    Tuning with an air/fuel meter.

I'm a novice at the Suzuki GS1100e so some of this might be assumptions just based on my limited knowledge. . My 81 came from a drag racer that bought it to replace the one that he used to race and lost in a divorce. He realized that he wasn't riding it enough, tried cleaning the carbs but it...

    slippy flywheel rotor, 81 1100

That's pretty much what I did except I failed to turn the same direction all of the time.

    reserve at 1/2 tank?

I'd agree with your assessment, I got an unexpected paycheck so I ordered a set of 36 Mikunis, a set of K&N's and a push pull throttle. I'll check the gas tank while it's apart. I'll start by draining into a 5 gallon gas can to see how low it will drain. I can barely turn the handle on the...

    reserve at 1/2 tank?

I'm wondering if a petcock inspection is needed, I cleaned the rust from the tank with vinegar and then evaporust. I flushed it with water and then e 85 to get the water out and blew it dry with a leaf blower before rinsing with 2 stroke gas. All of that said, I'm wondering if there is...

    slippy flywheel rotor, 81 1100

After being warned to check the crankshaft taper and rotor. I finally got the correct flywheel puller tool and did just that. Both surfaces were slightly galled indicating that it had been slipping. I used emery cloth on the crank taper and modified a sanding drum to match the rotors internal...

    reserve at 1/2 tank?

I can't disagree with success but my experience was different. That said, mine sat for 10 years with bad gas and rust in it.

    reserve at 1/2 tank?

I did add a set of K&N oval filters since the picture was taken. The wet concrete is from me wet sanding the clutch cover, it was pretty gnarly looking.

    reserve at 1/2 tank?

Thanks for the good advice, I already removed the inline filter and got a new fuel line, (I had that issue a couple times on old cb750's. I tried the old petcock until it flooded the crankcase with gas, then bought the K&L. My trip odometer just started working finally, it zeroed out but didn't...

    reserve at 1/2 tank?

This one has the two bolts holding it on. Pretty difficult to screw it in too far or cut down the stand pipe since it's inside the screen. I'm not crazy about no off position either. There may be a Pingel in my future. Speaking of that I think it's still set to reserve. I'd better go turn it to on.

    reserve at 1/2 tank?

It's an 81 GS1100EX with a new K&L petcock. For the second time it went on reserve at half tank on the gauge, and took only 2.5 gallons to re-fill. Does that sound right? It took 5 gallons of evaporust to clean the tank so I have a pretty good idea of what it holds. Edit, it also started...
