A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

That's how I felt all the time living in ChicagoLand. Had to ride for HOURS just to get near something mildly interesting. Nothing good for a short ride or a day trip. Gotta make a weekend out of it but you still spend more time on the slab than in the twisties. Three or four day trips were the...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Got out for a couple of hours this morning. Probably close to 80 miles. Never more than 30 miles from home. Explored some areas south of me. Found some new fun roads. Also found a section of TN Hwy 64 that appears to be a 20 mile long semi-permanent yard sale. Never seen anything like it. There...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Going to Gingerman for the track day soon so figured I better get the Tiger out and make sure it still works. Haven't ridden it much since Brown County. My go-to loop near home has some great twisty roads, elevation changes, and a cool dam. It was early and foggy so the dam picture didn't...

    Deal's Gap Dragon Tail

If your riding on 28 (which I recommend) be sure to stop and check out the Fontana Dam. The Cheoah dam where Harrison Ford jumped in The Fugative is also nearby Link

Bicycling from CA. to MI. to pick up my 1982' GS450T then drive it back to CA.

I don't know much about this particular set up but I wouldn't worry about the actual towing part. The HF trailer is good, the hitch looks good. Not really sure about the bikes power and how well it'll pull, but there's a thread over on ADV rider of a guy towing a sail boat all over the US behind...

The 1250 "Bandit" no longer being made? Any other suggestions?

I spent a day riding a buddies Ninja 250 around NoVA following him on his BMW R1200GS. I really liked it. It had the ergos of my 1250 Bandit but otherwise everything was just less. Less weight, less power, less fuel consumed. We road some scenic back roads, highways, and a bit of interstate. It...

The 1250 "Bandit" no longer being made? Any other suggestions?

Bandit 1250s are shim under bucket. At least my 07 was. Don't think they've changed. You don't have to pull the cams to check clearance but you do if you need to change a shim.

    Pay Attention to Your Bikes

That's crazy. So glad you came out ok. Drugs, guns, and knives aside...who the hell sits on someone else's bike, much less damaging it like that. For that alone they should be publicly flogged.

    S.E. Indiana Roads?

No. As stated, Beck's Mill is a an actual road. It's fun so worth riding if nearby. Bumpass Pass is goat trail through a scenic trailer park.

Damaged steering stem while removing lower bearing

I'm no expert, but I would have replaced that too.

Bicycling from CA. to MI. to pick up my 1982' GS450T then drive it back to CA.

Wow! What an epic adventure! I'm getting tired just thinking about it. Not to be a downer, but there are parts of that route around the south side of Chicago that I wouldn't drive through even armed much less ride a bike through. Maybe call an Uber about the time you cross I-57 and have them...

    Craigslist "funnies"

Maybe put a knobby on the back and take it to a hill climb?

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I don't know anything about if it's a "real" Kat or not, but I sure do like the way it looks. I might like this better than a "real" Kat. Did they sell that in the U.S.?

    shim club

Glad I saw this post. I ran across a half dozen shims in my toolbox yesterday. Since I don't have a GS anymore I'll ping ghostgs1 and see if he wants them for the club.

Looks like stashing a bike on the West Coast is paying off. Thanks for the reports and pictures. Looks like fun.

    Back Again

Oh. My. God. That is gorgeous! I've always thought that is probably the best paint scheme on any bike ever. Love it. Thanks for sharing!!!
