A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I had a taste, sort of...

Yeah, the Total Control track training I took and coached was a lot of fun. It's sort of between the L1 ARC and a track day. We did it at Road America's go-cart track. So it's not as fast as on the big track...no long straightaways, but the point is to refine your cornering skills and the...

If I'm not mistaken Neil, you were on a pretty good sized BMW touring bike at the time.

Joe...you should definitely do a track day. There is no better place to enjoy riding your bike closer to its limits than a track. Unlike the street, there is no oncoming traffic, no UPS trucks stopped in the road around the next bend, no wildlife crossing the road, no unexpected gravel or...

    Craigslist "funnies"

That poor, poor bike. How can it be "unmolested" if dogs attached it and ate the seat? Seems more like "pre-molested." As in...don't worry about having to molest this bike, it has been pre-molested by my mom's dogs!

I suspect the output is very binary. If you plug that in the wall and there is power you'll know about it pretty quick.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I guessed 79 because of the VM carbs. I think the US GS bikes all went to CV carbs in 1980.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Hmmm. L style, vm carbs, mag wheels, chain drive. 79 GS750L maybe?

    Daily driver??

I was shocked at how well my 77 GS750 worked 2-up. More than enough power for high speed freeway runs and plenty fun on the twisties. Great riding position, easy (if frequent) maintenance. Find a good GS and you'll really enjoy it.

    Chicago - Motorcycle parking overnight?

Lived in the area 15 years. Would never leave a bike outside in the city under any circumstances. I'd feel a little safer parking it in a 24 hr garage with an attendant but that's still no guarantee.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Thank you. Yes, no trouble mounting/dis-mounting. I'm 5 8 with a 30 in inseam. And this bike is tall, no doubt about it. Plus the aftermarket seat is a little taller than stock. But I can still touch both feet on the ground if needed...just. But at stop lights I normally put my left foot...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

rphillips PM'd me a couple of days ago suggesting that the weather today might be pretty good for a ride and that we should take advantage of it. He was right. It was perfect! He, his old buddy Cecil, and Cecil's boy Steven, and I rode about 140 miles today through some lovely middle TN...

I've gotta get a better camera. Ya'll's pictures look so much better than mine. The S6's camera is probably pretty good but I think the waterproof case I'm using isn't helping any.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

rphillips invited me to join him and some friends on a ride yesterday. There were three couples riding 2-up which was nice. Always good to have some ladies along. The goal was some pizza place up in the mountains near Chattanooga. Its a nice sedate ride through the rural countryside with...

Great idea! Yeah, the Bandit went to a new home a few weeks ago. A good home too. The new owner is a real enthusiast with many bikes. I've ridden with him before and am sure I will again.
