I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Need help identifying ignition parts on 1983 gs1100e

Ok. Does it look like my coils have been replaced before? Why are the feed wires spliced with the red wires before they enter the coils? Also, is this my cdi and is it stock?

Need help identifying ignition parts on 1983 gs1100e

I'm going through my GS I bought a couple years ago and I'm trying to identify my ignition parts so I know what I'm running. This is my first GS, they are new to me and I don't have any reference. It looks like this box is aftermarket. "3 Phase By Compu-Fire." Looks like its part of the...

1983 gs1100e need help with wheel and tire situation

Very interesting stuff in these posts. Thanks for all the info and opinions! Well, I got side tracked, noticed there was oil drips under the bike so i ended up replacing the pan gasket, o ring, oil filter and filter plate gasket, drain plug, washer and exhaust gaskets, and then taking care of...

1983 gs1100e need help with wheel and tire situation

Ok. It seems like if I wanted a set of matching wheels that are a direct swap that have similar size to my stock setup I'm pretty much out of luck? That's alright. I will just have to stay with the stock wheels and get new tires. I have never attempted a wheel swap on a bike before, much less...

1983 gs1100e need help with wheel and tire situation

I would definitely be interested in a wheel swap, if I could even locate 1150 wheels, but it seems going from a 19" front wheel to a 16" front wheel would require other changes up front

1983 gs1100e need help with wheel and tire situation

I agree that I need to find the leak first. I just wasnt clear enough in my response earlier. I will be taking the wheels off regardless because the tires are too old and I need to replace them, so regardless the wheels are coming off, and the first thing I'll do when they are off is identify...

No, the wheels do not have that printed on them.

1983 gs1100e need help with wheel and tire situation

I read the entire thread. It seems like people's concern was that if that inner ridge wasn't on the wheel, a sudden deflation could be much more dangerous. I didn't see any mention or concern that driving the bike aggressively or leaning hard in a corner would carry any added risk or danger of...

1983 gs1100e need help with wheel and tire situation

Thank you for the great info. I will have to take the wheels off and look. If I'm able identify and fix the leak, and continue with tubeless tires on tube wheels, is there any reason to fear going hard in the corners? I read some people were nervous about pushing the bike in turns with this setup

Hi, Im new to the GS1100 and I need some education on wheels and tires, heres my situation. I have owned my 83 gs1100ed for a few months now. Does a 1983 GS1100E use exhaust gaskets?

Hi, I have a 1983 gs1100e, it has a Delkevic 4 into 1 exhaust. I need to replace my oil pan gasket, and from what Ive seen I need to remove exhaust header pipes. I'd like to be prepared and order any cylinder head to exhaust header gaskets I need so I can get the job done in a single day. My...

Buyers guide for an 83 gs1100e?

I went ahead and bought it! Drove about 60 miles, about 50 of those miles on the highway. You'll be hearing alot more from me now. I love the bike, but definitely gotta address some issues, number one being this delkevic exhaust. It is very loud and has a head ringing 'drone' to it, anything...

Buyers guide for an 83 gs1100e?

I guess there was no provision in the battery he installed to accommodate the battery warning light, so it just stays on all the time, and he covered it with tape. Its a really cool bike, ran through all the gears well. The cover or the tank may have been painted at one point as well. The tires...

Buyers guide for an 83 gs1100e?

It runs well, he said the carbs have been rebuilt and thats why the paint is gone on them. It has a few stumbling issues in lower to mid rpm but idles ok and mid to WOT no issues

Buyers guide for an 83 gs1100e?

Here are some photos. The frame bike and its title I believe are an 83 according to the VIN, but the owner thinks this engine has been repainted, and its my first time looking at a GS1100E closely like this, so I cant tell if the engine is an 83 or a painted 82.

Buyers guide for an 83 gs1100e?

Hi I'm Adam, I'm driving up to look at 83 GS1100E this week, I've always wanted one and this one looks great in pictures. I've owned two yamaha XS1100 specials, an FJ1200, and V65 Magna, and I do all my own wrenching on them, from transmission repair to electrical to cosmetics, so I'm pretty...
