A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    1) why would the PO put solicone in the small air port/jet (right port in the left pic) ? This was only on #1 carb. Wondering what they may have been trying to solve so what to watch for after this cleaning. I was able to get the silicone out. It was all the way into the channel 2) how to...

Will it run? - need to put exhaust on?

Trying to see if a non-runner runs. Will be cleaning the carbs. The exhaust is not straight forward. Will a test run without the exhaust work? (I'm guessing it will be loud) if it does fire w.o the exhaust, will the missing exhaust give symptoms that may indicate issues that may not actually...

which to rebuild? 83 750E(S) Look at my signature. Gonna combine these into one good one, an if enough pieces, the other (which I don't really care about) will be a 'runner' or bastardised in some way. 1 how to determine which engine to think about as the primary? 2 I don't mind cleaning...

My solution.... Found a fiber type washer in the true value (chain small hardware shop) that sealed with little torque. Had been fine for months.

Carb bowl drain bolt size/thread - CV carbs - and where to get?

Yes, something like that! Ideally I'd do it with modifying the drain bolts IF I COULD FIND ANY and re tapping the bowls for brass nipples readily available woudl be choice 2. I'd sure like some to modify without kiling mine. Anyone have any extra extra bowls?

Carb bowl drain bolt size/thread - CV carbs - and where to get?

My question of where to get them is asking about the bolts, not the gas. **** Has someone found a source for these bolts other than Suzuki? I'm considering re-tapping the bowl to a readily available thread. Anyone got 4 spare ones I could experiment on? I might even set up a manifold drain...

Carb bowl drain bolt size/thread - CV carbs - and where to get?

And where are good places to get some? Good suggestions as always Steve. using your approach, I'd be ALWAYS running with Stabil. Sometimes it is weeks or months between rides. My Hypothesis is that vs. the once-annual put it away process that it is the RECURRING evap that causes the...

Carb bowl drain bolt size/thread - CV carbs - and where to get?

Carb bowl drain bolt size/thread - CV carbs - and where to get? I want to get extra carb bolts to: 1 - make bowl float gauges 2 - get them in thumb screws or weld on lever/thumbscrew or weld on valves to make draining the bolts easier. I don't ride much and I'm tired of cleaning carbs so to...

Which of two to rebuild/merge? - 1983 750 E and ES - Engine and rebuild questions. Am wondering which engine/frame to concentrate on from two 83 750 E/ES bikes I got with the idea of making one good one out of. (see signature line) 1983 GS750E - bought in 2016 as a rough runner to use while...

Steering stem lower bottom bearing outer race remove removal

my multi-year clymer shows the procedure for the earlier (pre-80?) punch out and for the later (mine was a 81) said to take it in to a pro. bwringer I've tried the weld thing a couple of times with my crappy little 110V welder and got blistered paint and no joy. Not a real fun position to weld...

Headlight bracket loose after stem service

Agree with the above. Used all balls bearings so wondered if they were taller. Didn't check before installation. I took it apart to make sure the races were fully seated, they were. No other indication of how to bring the tripple trees closer so made a spacer from the old for gaskets. Was...
