A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Not yet. I just got the valve cover gasket in earlier this week. Prob wont have time to check the valves until this weekend or early next week. But it's on my list of priorities! However, coincidentally, I adjusted the pilot screw in and out and got some interesting results. At 2.5 turns...

    Turn signal switch dissasembly

Just to add an update.. I manage to find a new-old-stock OEM turn signal assembly on ebay. The exact one! I went ahead and bought it since either I will break this one trying to fix it, or it may eventually break and will only be harder to find in the future. At least now I have a backup plan.

    Turn signal switch dissasembly

If found the album you're referring to in another post. I can't really see how the square button fits. I tried to turn the square button and it won't budge. It even made a faint "crack" sound so I immediately stopped. It's not broken yet. Not sure what to do now.

    Turn signal switch dissasembly

So you mean I need to rotate the square button 90 degrees? Good thing I asked and didn’t try to pry it off!!

    Turn signal switch dissasembly

Any of you guys know how to take apart this switch assembly without breaking it? My horn button broke and I need to replace it. I opened it up and it doesn't look complicated. It appears to be held in with a tie strap and a single screw. But It looks like I need to remove the turn signal...

    Carb going out of tune?

Something else I found suggests it could be an electrical issue. Can a bad ignition coil cause rough running at certain throttle position? - The GSResources Forums Will still check the valves since I don't know if it's ever been done. But if they're good, then maybe I'll check this next.

Valve adjust spreadsheet still a thing?

PM sent! Yea, I checked the archive site before posting. It wasn't there.

Valve adjust spreadsheet still a thing?

Is this still a thing? Looks like the most recent post is quite old. Unless my search skills suck. If so, I'd like to get a copy from someone.

    Carb going out of tune?

I think I found your post shortly after I posted this question. I will def check the valves and report back. Thanks!

    Carb going out of tune?

I recently synced the carbs using a carbtune, and adjusted the pilot jets based on ear, feel, and sound. Everything was great for a bit. It's been about a three weeks and I swear it's running lean now. Idles higher, multiple flat spots in acceleration. I'm about to go through it again, but...

    Squeaky front forks

I put the springs in with the shorter coils up. But I've read that it doesn't matter. Progressive also says it doesn't matter. I cut down the factory preload spacer to 1.75" per the progressive specs and re-installed it. Now that you mention it, there's a small retainer / washer that goes...

Is this a normal amount of engine noise?

I watched that video and yes, it does sound an awful lot like that. The video is worse than mine, but still similar.

Is this a normal amount of engine noise?

Just syncd the carbs. Was having issues with flat spots on acceleration and someone said all carbs should be balanced when using a 4 into 1. The re-sync fixed that issue. Not the rattle unfortunately. I don't know how that can cause mechanical noise, but I have read that before.

Is this a normal amount of engine noise?

Yes, it's 4 into 1. Will check the manual for how to check the cam chain tensioner and see if I feel like it's worth it. Thanks!

Is this a normal amount of engine noise?

Yes. This is a GK. With a shaft drive.

Is this a normal amount of engine noise?

I understand the cover isn't the engine. I mean from the general area of the engine. More specifically, behind the engine, under the carbs, in what I believe to be the transmission. This is a GK so there no chain. It's shaft driven. And yes I'm sure this is an 1100. It does have 4 carbs...

Is this a normal amount of engine noise?

82 1100GK. 31k miles. I am hearing a slight "clacking" sound coming from the engine/transmission. Using a stethoscope, it's most prominent when I probe the bolts on the transmission cover. The video makes it sound louder than it is, but its definitely there. It seems to only show up after...

    Looking for a GK seat

Thanks for the info. I was wondering which seats would be interchangeable. You're right, the bike has been stripped down so maybe a regular G seat will do. I really like the look of the original GK seat. But that specific bike was only made for a few years, so yes. It may be really hard to...

    Looking for a GK seat

The PO for my 82 GK modified the original seat. It doesn't look bad but I would really like to find an original seat. So far I haven't been able to find one that didn't come with an entire bike attached. Just figured I'd check here and see if A. Anyone here had one by some odd chance. B...

    Carb Sync Jam Nut Frustration

Thanks! I agree, the spring / replacement screw solution would be best. I might just give that a try!
