A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Carb Sync Jam Nut Frustration

Are you talking about the 90 degree tool or something else? That 90 degree tool would be useful but it won’t allow me to hold the screw while tightening the jam nuts holding

    Carb Sync Jam Nut Frustration

82 GS1100 GK. I got a carbtune so I could sync the carbs since I changed the exhaust. Works well and I was able to get them all very close. That is until I try to tighten the jam nuts holding the adjustment screws. Especially the #2 which is directly below the throttle cable bracket. It was an...

    Squeaky front forks

Im nearly certain it's the right fork. But good idea. I'll get someone to put their ear next to it to be sure, then use the stethoscope.

    Squeaky front forks

    The oil was black black!

    Squeaky front forks

I tried lubing the forks around the seals but it's still the same. I think it's something internal squeaking. Maybe the damper rod?? I ordered some actual 15wt fork oil. I'll try swapping out my ATF blend for regular fork oil. Maybe the 1:1 just isn't the right viscosity or lubricity. If...

    Squeaky front forks

Could be dry sliding. Weird that it would start now but it’s possible. Will check that out. Also good to know you didn’t have any issues with the oil/ATF blend. I’d never seen that before I read it in the manual.

    Squeaky front forks

82 gs 1100 GK. Just replaced the stock front springs with progressive springs. All went well and no issues. The new ones are much better than the old ones. No more diving! However, now when I compress the front suspension it squeaks. Of note.. I didn’t have access to fork oil at my...

Gunson Colortune, Am I using it wrong?

Sounds like my experience exactly. I think I'll just sell it on eBay.

Gunson Colortune, Am I using it wrong?

So I got a gunson colortune. Figured it would be a good buy and I could share it with my friends who also have vintage Japanese bikes. I followed the instructions and watched a few videos, all basic stuff. It ain't rocket surgery. But what I noticed is the range of adjustment for the "bunson...

    Fairnig Installation

I think I will likely need to make custom brackets. Not a big deal. But the turn signals are just too short. They're completely covered up by the fairing. So I'll need new turn signals too.

    Fairnig Installation

Pretty sure it’s a viper cafe racer fairing. It does have the V shaped brackets but there’s still no room.

    Fairnig Installation

I have an 82GK that has been de-K'd. So it's got an aftermarket headlight and turn signals. Also different handlebars. I also have an emgo fairing but I'm not sure how to fit it. The light is too low and or too far back and the turn signas are part of the headlight bracket and are in the...

    About to purchase

I should have come back and read this thread again. I posted a question about the #2 plug fouling out and this is exactly what it was!

4 into 1 Exhaust and Flat Spots

I did read that in the carb rebuild guide I found here. How do you know how much to reduce it? By how many tenths of a mm should I step down each time?

4 into 1 Exhaust and Flat Spots

I did not! I read the service manual for carb sync and I believe the middle two should be different from the outer two. Not sure if it’s higher or lower as it just says the balls should be just below the midline on the special vacuum tool. I didn’t know they needed to be the same. Will give...

4 into 1 Exhaust and Flat Spots

82 GS1100 GK. Stock pilot jets. One size up on the main jets. Delkevic 4 into 1 exhaust with the center baffle removed. Bike idles perfectly and runs great overall. However, it has a flat spot in the midrange under acceleration. I read somewhere here on an old thread that 4 into 1's can do...

    Hard clutch pull

To all of those who said it was the clutch cable, you were right! My clutch cable broke yesterday about 10 miles from home. I had to ride all the way back home without stopping in 7 AM. Traffic! What an adventure that was! I got the replacement clutch cable today and installed it and low and...

#2 cylinder always rich and fouled

Well, the rebuild kit did nothing. It's still sucking fuel past the diaphragm. Albeit, less fuel but I can still see activity in the clear tube. And now it leaks as well. :/. Probably from me over tightening it after realizing it still wasn't working. Looks like I'll be ordering a whole...

#2 cylinder always rich and fouled

So I already have a petcock rebuild kit that I can't return that I ordered some time ago. I may just give it a go. If that doesn't work, then I'll just replace the whole thing.
