A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Do you have a different key for each lock ?

Another option? Another option? Another option you can consider.... Our GS locks only use one side of the key to funtion. If you have 2 different Suzuki locks, simply cut one side to the first key, and the other side to the second key. Presto - one key! (This will work for the GK locks as...

    Poll for Compufire R/R Users

I've been having charging issues with my ES since last September. Confirmed the battery is sound with a load test from the local Batteries Plus, bought a DMM and found I'm just getting 12.2 at the battery with any rpm  I'm fairly certain the r/r is original, as well as the stator, so I...

    Shock and Exh I.D.

The shocks do look like Fox brand, agreed. The pipe could be one of many - need to see the pipes at the exhaust flange or heads to see if they have the Bassanin trademark quick removal feature. If they don't have that, it could be an early Yosh, V&H, Supertrapp...

what did you wrench on today??

Pesky Electrons... Pesky Electrons... After much procrastination, I finally decided to try to find the source of my electrical woes in the starting circuit. Last time out, with a brand new, fully charged battery, and after checking the charging at the battery to be acceptable, I went for a...

    1983 suzuki tempter gr650

That is the Suzuki version of the classic Triumph vertical twin, except, Suzuki engineers did some very cool work putting that engine together. They altered the firing order for less vibration, and added a counter-balancer, so they are relatively smooth and still solid mounted. Suzuki also...

    Passenger floorboards

I've seen floorboards before, after-market of course, but mounted and used. Mostly seen 'em on GKs, but surely they'd fit a G as well. Have you considered swapping out your 850 pegs for the extra-wide GK footpegs? Might be another option.

Leather or Vinyl seat cover? Gel? how thick?

This is a real personal decison, leather or not. I prefer leather, always have. True, rain isn't great for a leather seat, but, a little care and the seat is fine. My leather jacket, and leather Corbin seat have held up pretty well over the years. I've never had a gel seat, but I've heard you...

What GS did these exhaust systems come from?

Exhaust pipes Exhaust pipes Ed, The 110(X) says they're 1100 pipes. The difference between E and Kat pipes is just the location of the hangar, and the heat shield. Kat pipe hangars are closer to the middle of the megaphone, where E pipes have the hangar closer to the front end. 82 Kat pipes...

    What exhaust system is this?

That bobber has a 4 valve engine, where G/L models usually have the 2 valve version. I'm not sure how interchangeable exhaust pipes are between the two different engines. MAC makes 4 into 1 as well as 4 into 2 systems. You'd have to check at MAC what they might have for your bike. I know...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Well, looks like quite a day - glad everyone had a good time. Seven Kats together - I've never even seen another one on the road at the same time as me - let alone ride together! You know, I just love that black and red ES paint scheme - we never had a choice here stateside. Looks like 82 star...

    Exhaust Clean up.

Those headers look great - nice work. I hope they work as well, seems like you're pretty confident they will, which is great. We'll be watching to find out what the product is, and if we can get it over here. I've got a few sets of exhausts I'd like to do the same with. So not being a painter...

Short circuit in Katana instrument panel

John, Thanks for the heads up, and the visuals. Is that 21,000 kms or 121,000? Either way, your speedo looks very very nice. Love your Honda in your other post!

What year katana is this and does it have the same exhaust port spacing as GS1100e?

What year Kat? What year Kat? It is hard to tell the precise year with any certainty from a picture of a modified and painted Kat. The fins were options in the US, and they'll mount to either 82 or 83 (and they are still available from Suzuki.) The only clue I see are the footpegs - they're...

    Odd oil appearing in carb.

Well, there are a few recommendations that make a lot of sense, but it sounds like you're diving into the head without even doing a compression check? 1. You haven't said if you've confirmed whether it is oil or gas. I read the pod filter was smoking a bit - sounds like that filter may have...

300 miles on the 1000G today

Sounds like a great ride Combat. I've been to Lake Elsinore and taken the 74 back down to SJC. The view off that cliff overlooking the lake is amazing, you can almost see Steve racing around the lake... 74 going up or down right there is a handful too! Thanks for sharing. I've read the 850G is...
