Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

DJ stage 3 kit seems to small.

Last update i think: so after spending most of the afternoon riding, adjusting, riding and adjusting some more I ended up with the mix screws just over 4 turns out. Needles where raised one more notch for a total of 2 notches all in all. Overall the bike rides pretty well now and power is there...

DJ stage 3 kit seems to small.

A little update here: so today I disassembled every carburettor completely to make sure everything was open and clear. Then put them back in again and no change. So then I started spraying brake cleaner again and it turns out there was a small air leak because the clamps weren't tightened as...

DJ stage 3 kit seems to small.

So I've read, so it might be my filters that are throwing it off perhaps since they're not the kn type that DJ specifies for this setup. But regardless I think I'm going to tear the carbs to bits and see if something is up with the pilots or that circuit.

DJ stage 3 kit seems to small.

I didn't get any air correctors in my kit. Only needles with clips and washers, jets, and drillbit for the slide hole. Mix screws weren't plugged, and the pilot jet was a 47.5 versus 45 stock and the main was a 122.5 and I think its a 115 stock. So I think the engine might have been running a...

DJ stage 3 kit seems to small.

Hi. So I installed a gsx1100 engine in my gs750. Since the engine was a junkyard engine I didn't get any ancillaries except carbs and used the pods and exhaust system from the 750(which actually ran a 850engine). Also had to swap the points ignition over since I didn't get that either... Now Of...

    Frame bracing, boxing vs tubing.

    Frame bracing, boxing vs tubing.

I'm not, I will be running sv1000s forks. So I'm not sure on the spring weights I guess I'll just have to get the bike together and see how it behaves and how it sags and such. Yeah I mocked everything up and when I sat on the bike there was no sag at all from the ?hlins, so that's why I think...

    Frame bracing, boxing vs tubing.

Hmm... I thought the object of this brace was to prevent the headstock from twisting forces primarily? As for dampers I have a set of ?hlins dampers from a gsxr1400. Not sure on the springing they might be to stiff I will have to see once the bike is assembled fully. I plan on complimenting...

    Frame bracing, boxing vs tubing.

Making some slow progress, but I have some questions about the headstock bracing! See bottom picture: A is how the sketch is outlined on the katana fram scheme I posted in my first post, but that interferes with the rubber grommet for the tank so I have to think of something else. I can do...

    Frame bracing, boxing vs tubing.

How does the sump of the engine fit with those braces between the fram rails?? I have now made two gussets, they fit fine but because of the pet cock the left had to be massaged extensively with a hammer and the right one a little bit so the tank could shift a little bit to the left so the...

    Frame bracing, boxing vs tubing.

Some reading material; https://motochassis.com/Articles/Frame.mod/KawaMods.htm It would seem triangulating with tubes is much preferred over gussets providing there is enough space for a tube to run right?

    Frame bracing, boxing vs tubing.

Good point about the lower frame bracing. Altough it'll mean more work to be done :-P Started some cardboard templates today, will be making my plate brake tomorrow. Also with these gussets it is my understanding that one does NOT weld the two short sides across the tube, just weld along the...

    Frame bracing, boxing vs tubing.

I'm hoping the removal of the stock seat and rear of the frame along with aluminium rear swing arm and a lifepo4 battery pluss removal of any unnecessary stuff is gonna negate whatever little weight is put on by this

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll just fold some sheet metal for the box sections B and C and use tubing for the rest. Made the front one today

    Frame bracing, boxing vs tubing.

Hi again, been a few years since I was last on this forum, still haven't finished my gs but hoping to get there now. So tomorrow I'm starting to brace my frame. I've been reading this; https://oldskoolsuzuki.info/archives/315 And I see it's a 60x20 1mm box steel that's recommended on the B C...

How much can you bore an 850?

Chuck that is an insane amount of info :-D appreciate it. I found a gs1000 engine last year, but had a couple of other things going on so couldn't afford it, found a bike braking for parts a month ago but it was gone before I even got home from work to call the guy. :O it's a small community...

Doing... did ... the ton on an 81 GS450E

Well the tires where new, so that wasn't the problem, bearings where good too, no play in them. Rear suspension though might have been a likely culprit. There was also some rust issues around the sidestand area we discovered when we tore apart the bike so that might have weakened the frame and...
