If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

GS1000 GL feels like its diving into the corners

I think the recommended interval is each year or every two years, cant remember exactly of the top of my head :o

Front end feels a little squirmish, remedy?

I know, I'm just not sure if I'm keeping the bike thats why I've been holding of on it. But okay I'm gonna check the air pressure 'cause I've totally forgotten about it and I'll also check the swingarm bearing. But I'm thinking, I'm around 88-90kg, probably closer to a 95-100 kg depending on...

Electrical issue No headlight no Turn siginal

Check/clean the light switch first and foremost! It's free and light switches are notorious for causing all sorts of weird light related issues on motorcycles.... At least old motorcycles....

GS1000 GL feels like its diving into the corners

If it's been sat in a garage for a couple of years there are a few things you should do, you said you're getting a new tire, thats good! Tires can effect steering a lot! Make sure you have the correct air pressure in them when riding. Also you should replace the fork oil. It detoriates over...

Ignition issue, new GS owner, first time old bike owner.

Here you see the stock points setup on a GS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIFTrwtfxus The rotor is connected to the crankshaft and spins with it, the rotor has a little cam on it which pushes on the points to make them open and close at certain intervalls, in this case every 180degrees of...

Ignition issue, new GS owner, first time old bike owner.

Not quite sure what I'm looking at in the last picture  But yeah try and swap the black and white wires around, if the problem follows the black wire then it's a problem with the dyna most likely. How does your sparkplugs look? Are all sparkplugs working? I.e firing...

Ignition issue, new GS owner, first time old bike owner.

Three? I have a 78 GS750 and coils on that bike only have two wires, one is power (orange/white) and the other is ground(white for left coil, black for right). Ground wires black and white are connected directly to the points, or in your case the dyna replacement which grounds the coils at...

Newbie here: 1983 GS650GLD - Where do the fuel lines from the petcock go on the carb?

fuel LINE, as in ONE. There shouldn't be any more than that, the other one is a vacuum line ;) Anyways, it connects to a pipe between carbs 2 and 3. The vacuum line connects to a pipe on the 2nd carb. EDIT: just beat me to it....

Front end feels a little squirmish, remedy?

Hi there good folks! I took my recent project bike (83 GSX1100ES) out for a short blast after doing some slight carb work and to check for oil leaks and other stuff.... The bike was cruising along good so I went and pushed it pretty good through some sharp turns and fast sweepers but I noticed...

    83 GSX1100ES, "worn-out-edition"

I went for a ride yesterday on my gs, to replace a fuse on the gsx... So I decided to take it for a little spin. And I have to say it behaved really well, pretty smooth but the noise is a little weird with the exhaust all leaking.... But overall a pleasant ride. Will hopefully improve once new...

My new project thread: 78' GS750

So here's the results of an hours time mostly cruising around town... number 3 and 4 1 and 2 So it seems cylinders 2 and 3 are running slightly richer than the two outer ones... Should I do something about this? like try and adjust the middle ones a quarter/half turn in or is this just...

My new project thread: 78' GS750

So I've been riding this thing out and about town for some time now and it's the same problem now as it was the last time it was on the road. Plugs carbon fouling and eventually it starts running on just a couple of cylinders untill it's warmed up... So today I checked the idle adjustment...

    Side cover repair

Yeah, it hardens to a pretty hard silicon rubber. Got to make sure whatever you're attaching it to is clean, my sidecover was not and one tab fell off... I even made a fuse holder of it for my GS by encapsulating two spade type wire crimp connectors with it.

    Side cover repair

I used sugru to make new tabs on my side covers, so I suppose the epoxy putty will work too :)

I have bench synced them, but I'm on the lookout for someone that might have a carb sync tool I can borrow so I can get them properly set up. Read more about my ventures of getting it running right here-> http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?p=2036374#post2036374

GS850G got a little clutch slip

Yes, it can. Alot of motor oils for cars f.ex will tend to cause clutch slippage. Also mc oil that's not advertised as safe to use with a wet clutch might cause slippage.

Stuttering up to 3k rpms, won't idle without choke.

Okay! Today I tried to adjust the carbs but to no luck, it still stumbles and rattles and idled erratic, no matter how I turned the fuel screws it didn't seem to have any effect unless I turned them all the way in which would make it die... Finally I turned my attention to the spark plugs and...

    Testing the oil temp sensor?

Oh! sure! 1983 GSX1100ES, you guys call it a GS?

    Testing the oil temp sensor?

Can't find anything, other than to ground the sensor wire and check if the gauge jumps up to max, which it does, so the sensor itself is probably faulty. Is this still available or will I have to buy second hand? Maybe a sensor from another bike fits?
