A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Body armor, is it rated, or somehow tested for efectiveness?

Oh I believe it works - no question there! I'm looking for some recommendations as to what folks like and why. Glad it worked for you and Brian!! I'm sure anything is better than nothing - but these items can be pricey, so before I take that jump, wanted to hear what people have and like - what...

Body armor, is it rated, or somehow tested for efectiveness?

Does anyone have body armor they wear and like? I haven't seen much here in the forum other than ATGATT. I know it can help with road rash and that's very valuable, but who has what that they consider comfortable?

    GS550 4-1 exhaust or headers

Don Giablo has a period Bassani 4 into 1 for a GS550 for sale - if you're looking for a nice replacement. Not sure the price, but it was listed in the Parts for Sale section earlier this summer. I've got the Cycle & Cycle World reviews on the 83 550ES - both mags had very positive reviews of...

    Totaled GS550es

Sorry -what a bummer.. Glad you're ok though. Insurance companies are businesses, out there to make money, not give it away. I would estimate $2000, maybe more, to get a mint 550ES. The old rule of thumb is $3/cc for a really nice example, $2/cc for a good running example, but not perfect, and...

How to cure loose center stand?

Loose center stand Loose center stand Opps - I suggested adding a bracket on the right side - it needs to be on the left side to align with the bumper on the center stand in the factory position. It'll look funny with no exhaust there, but as you mentioned, putting it on when you need it would...

How to cure loose center stand?

Loose Center Stand Loose Center Stand On the stock exhaust for an 82/83 1100E/ES, there was a small bracket welded on that accepted a small round rubber bumper - strategically placed so as to align with the center stand and keep it under tension in the up position. This was on the left side of...

    gsx 750 es Speeod

Welcome - that's a beautiful ride. Here in the states, the 750ES was a 1 year bike (1983), it was down-sized to 700 in 84 and 85 to get in the country under the displacement limit that brought a tariff. We didn't get this color combination (or the black with red highlights) as an option, nor...

    Would I love a GS1x00?

What to do What to do Back in the spring of 82, I jumped from a Honda 450 twin (that I really liked!) to a 82 GS1100E - never even thought of looking back :D Been riding GS'es ever since

    Timing off - Waaayyy off

Project Kat Project Kat Wow - do you have any pictures you can post of both the good and the bad positions? If you triple checked and still had it 180 out, us shadetree types would surely do the same  By the way, is the 750 the project Kat?

Any active GSR members in Italy?

[Not sure if this should go in Meeting Place, GS Owners or what - finally decided on GS Stories] Just got back from a family "holiday" in Italy. I was thinking before we left, I might find time to squeeze in a ride. Bike rentals were about 100-200 Euro a day depending on what you wanted...

Feels good to be riding (finally)!

Congratulations Congratulations Kerry, Congrats! Sounds like a project finally coming to completion. And a 25 year gap in bike ownership - between those 2 tidbits, sounds like there's more of a story here... 2 years of tinkering, hopefully, like the rest of us, available time was a...

    Interesting information about invisibility.

Running Lights Running Lights On my 82 and 83, if you look at the wiring in the front of the bike, near the headlight, you 'll see 2 wire connectors with nothing connected. Plug in your turn singal lead into this and they'll become running lights. Meaning, the turn signals will stay on while...
