A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Cruise control / throttle assist

I like the old lever ones. the 'new' design looks interesting but I wouldn't like that arm always raising/lowering each time I activated the throttle.

Gas Tank Rust - Phosphoric Acid vs Evapo-Rust?

In my experience the further spots just need more time. since electrolysis doesn't affect the good metal the longer time isn't an issue. In my case I had a good bit of rust in the back corner from sitting on the side stand so put the anode there and by the time that part was cleaned the rest...

Gas Tank Rust - Phosphoric Acid vs Evapo-Rust?

I had very good luck with electrolysis (wrap the anode with several winds of plastic window screen to provide the necessary gap) The rust removal yielded several pinholes. would be a shame to have acid or expensive cleaner drain out of those as it did its magic. Electrolysis liquid...

Pre-cleaning carbs ? is it ever too soon? Thinking about cleaning my carbs over winter and am wondering if they would get ?stale? or stuck somehow sitting dry for 4 months.

Ultrasonic carb clean ? Still need to disassemble carb and replace o-rings?

Just seems that way. :( Curious about your winterizing procedure. Seems like there is something for me to learn there. BTW, before seeing your response that o-rings may not need to be replaced, I just ordered a couple sets of o-rings thinking I'd like ot have a spare set on hand. guess I may...

Ultrasonic carb clean ? Still need to disassemble carb and replace o-rings?

OK, what (if any) cleaning technique differences are there using the US vs. the conventional carb dip process ?

Ultrasonic carb clean ? Still need to disassemble carb and replace o-rings?

Ultrasonic carb clean ? Still need to disassemble carb and replace o-rings? Wishing that the annual carb clean process may be easier by getting an ultrasonic (US) cleaner to dip the whole carb into. I found a few posts that talk about ultrasonic cleaner quality and some on fluid choices but...

    Another charging problem

yep, do the quick test and then the stator papers $5 on the battery being shot. Interestingly the Quick Test says start with a "good" battery but there is no positive way to assess a "good" battery unless its a new one since some that seem to charge up have the proper voltage but still don't...

    Frame Side Covers

They are still avail through Suzuki <$50/side. Considering the futility in searching and probable tab and condition issues on used ones, relatively cheap IMO.

    Carb sync tool STL area

That is why the details of these home made ones say to put restrictors in. Most folks use welding tips on minimal diameter in the lines. This also provides reading dampening. Before I met you guys (GSREsources) I bought a Motion Pro blue liquid synch off Amazon for $40 shipped. Was worried...

    carb boot clamps

from someone who went through this recently... reshape your OEM ones. Better and cheaper. Eventually I will write up a review ( got the pics and the measurements etc.). this guy sent me a bunch of samples. and he was willing to make "kits" as necessary for our applications. He's got this...

How to shop for a motorcycle battery

    1) if you're not sure if you'll keep the bike get the cheapest ~$35 at Walmart. Tend to last about 2 years (outliers on longevity in either direction exist) 2) if you think you'll keep the bike (and not sure of charging system which is typically bad) consider a lifetime warranty battery ~$80...

    Installing Compufire

Wanted to but no good place on my 1981 GS750L so I just ran to batt neg since the engine ground goes there. Really better to put it on the frame and then frame to battery. Rear master brake cylinder bolt would be an option. Small screwdriver down the back opening (on the flat side of the...

here are some pics (scroll) I've taken to crate my own install post http://s1365.photobucket.com/user/andrewvanis/media/IMAG0389_zpse878e901.jpg.html I used the supplied fuse holder as the connection to the OEM red wire (here it is before installation into the fuse holder)

    Installing Compufire

1 - read this - http://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?p=1910714#post1910714 2 - IMHO, no need to size up the OEM wiring even though it look tiny compared to Compufite wiring 3 -anywhere it will fit. Most like will need to drill at least one hole.
