I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

A friend came up an interesting suggestion for the electrics that would delete the GSX1150EF igniter, saving weight and one less electric component to worry about. His idea was to install a Dyna S pick up set and after this is installed the igniter can be removed. Sounds like a win! With the...

The light weight Brembo res is supported by a bracket I made from 2.5mm stainless steel rod, strong enough to do the job and not look too industrial, keep it tidy and very light! I made the top of the bracket with a slot to allow for adjustment and some wiggle room if needed when positioning the...

Yes, as soon as I bolted it on I knew it had to be swapped for a 5mm.

I wasn't happy with the 6mm allen bolt holding the new front brake res, it just didn't look right, and if it doesn't look right it isn't right. Swapped it for a 5mm allen bolt, much better and as a bonus it is almost half the weight of the 6mm. Front res M6 by Max Mutarn, on Flickr Front res...

The res swap is done and dusted. The Brembo res including the DIY bracket, hose, clips, bolts, washers and brake fluid came in at 77% lighter than the Nissin res assembly, 152 g is a pretty good weight saving for a small part like the front res. The Nissin res = 198 g. Brembo res = 46 g...

One of the jobs I'd like to start this weekend is swapping the OEM Nissin front brake res for a lighter Brembo res. The Brembo res is not supplied with a bracket but that isn't an issue as it allows me to make a bracket and I have a cunning plan for the bracket. Nissin Res by Max Mutarn, on Flickr

what did you wrench on today??

Hi Darryl, "special sauce" is Inox MX 3. This is similar to other products in this category however, what makes it so good for cables is it cleans and lubes the cable and does not go tacky or leave any varnish/residue to gum up cables. Yes, it looks to have the same properties as that other very...

    Headlight Protector

I have recently installed a new glass headlight and would like to keep it in one piece however, some of the backroads around here have plenty of loose gravel and stones that do a good job of turning glass into crystals. Fitted a headlight protector today before heading out on a ride tomorrow...

what did you wrench on today??

To help keep the clutch cable silky smooth and reduce wear to the cable it gets a dose of cable lube 3 times per year. The needle fits straight into the OEM clutch cable, squeeze in the lube until it runs out of the cable at the lower cable adjuster and reinstall the cable to the lever. Same...

Since fitting the GSX 1135 EF OEM oil cooler I have been monitoring the oil temp using a digital gauge and so far so good. The 1135 EF OEM front guard has a deflector fitted as stock however, the 1981 SZ Katana 1100 front guard does not have a deflector so I have been curious to know about the...

Yep, except for the Streak Eagle, all variants of the F15 have a tail hook for land based cable recovery when needed or in training.

    1981 GSX1100 Katana Based Project

Yeah, the Streak Eagle was a Hot Rod! It was stripped down to the basics with a lot of systems removed to get the weight down: no gun pack no radar no tail hook some actuators were removed some electronics were removed some hydraulic systems were removed minimum fuel load and of course no...

Cooler and brackets are finished and tomorrow they will be installed and a test ride Tuesday with some mates. It will be interesting to see if the lower deflector helps to reduce oil temp, being the first design it can be changed or modified as needed. If this design works and there is no need...

    1986 GS450L New Battery - No Power

Hi there and welcome to the forum. Those wires are for the front indicators and not being connected will not be the reason for no power to the system. I don't have an answer for you about what the problem could be however, I am sure there will be someone here who has some advise regarding...

To shave some weight off the oil cooler I am going to delete the lower cooler mounting brackets and make the upper brackets from flat aluminium shaped to make them as light as possible. The cooler is held in place with the upper brackets and the hoses with their metal manifolds are stiff enough...

The deflector for the lower edge of the cooler is a prototype to test if it helps reduce the oil temp once there is some airflow. To future proof the deflector it needs to be installed in a way that allows it to be removed and or replaced if needed. Have attached an aluminium strip tapped for...
