    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    The new Compufire regulator arrived and I installed it today. Bought off of the internet the male terminals for the CF connector.     Did the quick test and voltages were right in the money, took it out on the street and still ok. Got home shut down watched the dmm ( hooked to the battery) started it up and the volts were down a full volt. Back out on the road volts back to spec. OK, interesting one thought how hot does that...

    Crankcase Cracks (Crazing?)

    Take it to a machine shop and they can do a dye test that will reveal if they're cracks or not.

    Compufire It seems the problem continues, stator checks out, battery voltage fine, checked connections all crimped and soldered, and ran all tests again.     Compufire Well ?#%$^!, now that's out of the way it seems there's a problem. After the install all well, volts right on the money per Stator Papers at 2500 (13.5+) and 5000 (14.4) rpm. Got back from a ride hooked up the meter and now we have mid 12's to just over 13 volts. Checked connectors...

    The Compufire will fit in the stock location with some relocation of components, example the atc fuse box is now above the starter solenoid, aft of that now is the reg, then the master relay which is activated by the ignition switch. That provides power to the fuses. The turn signal control it...

    Compufire I have already been the route of using a Honda regulator so this was the obvious way to go. Not a direct replacement but the end result worth it so far.

    Finished the install of the Compufire regulator and hooked up the AGM battery then performed the Stator Papers tests and all's well. Volts are up now to spec and so far the unit stays cool to the touch, no test ride yet thunderstorm.

    Battery Battery I too have installed an AGM battery in my 1000 works great.

    Regulator

    Well after following the stator papers I find a faulty regulator on board (a Honda) , so a Compufire 3 phase 40 amp regulator has been ordered. I'm interested to see if I achieve the same results as fellow members have. Thanks be for the GSR Forum.

    buying used clutch

    You probably can reuse the gasket and do the work while on the side stand and there will be no loss of oil, works fine for me.

    Stripped Exhaust Manifold

    One tip to try when drilling out the and tapping the hole for helicoils is to use the flange it's self as a guide, it helps to keep things true. Helicoils work just fine for that repair.

    About twenty years ago I used Glasrit clear on mine, has some leading edge wear but otherwise still looks wet.

    Which ones.....Tires that is

    Using Shinko 230 Tour Masters on my 1000 instead of Metzler Lasertecs no issues thus far with about 1k on them and 145.00 cheaper too.

    New fork tubes?

    I have a set of suzuki inner tubes that are 37mm x 24 & 1/8" long in nice condition. Also have some outer tubes as well.
