A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Rockauto Discount Codes

I'm not sure how many codes are valid at once, but this one came up in a google search for current rockauto discount code. Saved me $15 on a fuel pump. 294374552228365773

Most likely a GS, could be a GT two stoke triple. That would be cool. Here are a couple of sites to check out. https://www.autoevolution.com/moto/suzuki/gt-1/ https://www.autoevolution.com/moto/suzuki/gs-1/

Hey Mike. Depending on which state you're in there may be back fines or penalties for not registering it. New Mexico, where I am, doesn't have stiff penalties for that. You can apply for a lost title. I think they need time to attempt to contact the most recent registered owner and check police...

I really wanted to ride over to one of our BMX tracks here, didn't happen though. Possibly a record store with some artwork of music tracks on the building. There's a high school around the corner with a great track around the football field. Always work work work, Voting for Baatfam. Great...

It is an older pic, but yes, I still have the 850. No Windjammer or backrest though. That pic was a "tag" from our "Riding Game" several years ago.

Hey Paulf. The seat from an '82 and later year 850 G will fit right on. I swap my '83 850G and '82 GK with no trouble.

Bob, I'm sure you've forgotten more about these bikes than I'll ever know. ;) I can comment on the regulators frequently crapping out from personal experience on three of my GS's over the years and the countless others I've read about. Whether those were dirty grounds or faulty design, I'll...

Yes, they do. The stock regulator/ rectifier frequently, if not always, goes bad. Go back a few posts and look at Nessism's signature for the link to the Top Ten Newbie Mistakes thread.

To remove the cyl head or not? That is the question

Tight valves will definitely cause low compression. The valves can't close if they always have contact with the cam lobe. You can try different chemicals to soften the gasket remnants. It may help to apply some heat as well. The main thing is not to gouge the gasket surface. I've tried gasket...

Ah ha, that makes sense. Thanks Rich.

RPM gauge accurate up to 6000-7000 then flutters

I looked at the parts fiche for the 83 550e and saw a cable drive in the valve cover. Thought that meant the gauge would be mechanical as well.

    My 82 GS650GZ Build

I've never seen a 650 in the wild. Not very many surviving I suppose, 'round here anyway. This one is a nice example. Looking good! I suppose you're aware it takes a little while for new pads and rotors to really work together efficiently, right? Sounds like you're swapping master cylinders to...

I know you did, Norm, but if it's any consolation to you I think some good came from that experience. Honestly I'm glad he was with you guys to learn from. After gaining his composure, he got back on the bike and not only rode back to the Rosemont hotel, but 1500 miles back to Albuquerque. It...
