A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Time for a new front tire?

In my experience, if you're asking yourself if it's time for a new tire, it probably is.

Probably want to swap in the 1100 swingarm, if you haven't already.

Is it possible to ride these bikes too hard...?

I think you'll find that the "conservative " rev limits in the manuals relate mostly to the break-in time, not the life of the bike.

Is it possible to ride these bikes too hard...?

Read rich83gs750tz's thread in four cylinder engine/drivetrain/clutch about overrevving and what can happen. Suzuki was serious when they set the redlines on these engines. Up to redline is yours to play with.

    1983 GS1100GK project

Not to stick my nose in or anything, but the stator didn't look too good in that pic. It looks fried, to put it bluntly.

GSX 750 ET 80s muscle bike light resto daily rider

Really great looking bike. Just one question: what badges go in (or on) the headlight shell? Is that a Eurobike thing?

Welp, not a good end to the day.

Buffalo Bill said: "Kinda…I know I'd rather meet a woman who was 50 but looked 35. Reminds me, I met a very nice lady at Grattan who found me interesting. She didn't look a day more than 30 years my junior." So did you break her leg?

Welp, not a good end to the day.

Really, with a little planning you could have managed to "meet" her a bit less violently.

GS1100E 16V: Cannot stop Valve Cover Leak

I have an 81 gs850 with oil all over the front of the engine, and I thought it was the base gasket. Turns out the forks blow oil all over because the pitting on the tubes keeps eating the seals. I have discovered that as I am no mechanic, whatever I think is at fault at first is never what turns...

Welp, not a good end to the day.

Geeze, that sucks. Good that you're OK, sad that she isn't. As someone who's been there and done that, I can say that even if your insurance bought you a matching motorcycle, new helmet and new gear, it will never be the same. You will never feel the same way about riding. Always have that...

    1982 gs650gl project

Once you've got the clutch sorted it should last for quite some time: 10-20k miles (15-30k klicks) would not be unusual, ,,,,,,,unless you're drag racing it.

Short video and description on "counter-steering"

I have always been amazed by how many riders deny that counter-steering works. Obviously they are using it, but without realizing it. If you ask them about it, they will claim it's impossible. It's not impossible, just counter-intuitive.

    Oil Pressure Light

Got out today for the first time this year. I parked the Ratzuki back in August because the oil pressure light was flickering at idle. Someone told me it was probably the sending unit (switch) that was bad and I should just ignore it. Didnt seem prudent to do that but when i finally got it...

Which side covers are correct? '77 GS750

Back when, Suzuki had a basic GS750, and the GS750E. The differences were: the E model had cast wheels, dual discs up front, and a stepped seat. The basic GS750 had a single disc up front on wire wheels and a flat seat. The E model cost a few hundred more. These were not year-model differences...

    750 TSCC Rebuild or Replace?

GSs have 2 types of turn signals: A) with running lights, and B) without running lights. A) type have 3 wires. B) type have 2 wires. That said, i'd wanna be replacing all that blodge with decent wiring.

    Master Link Sealant?

Last time I changed a chain was back in the 80s sometime. I used a steel block behind the chain and a hammer to peen the links together. Never had any trouble with that chain. Of course I lubed it a lot, which it seems is wrong, but that was what i was trained to do.

    750 TSCC Rebuild or Replace?

You should put crime scene tape around that engine. Ok, the valve rockers appear to have stayed in the cam cover, but that adjustment screw went someplace after it ate the chain guide. You will need to find it and examine all the damage it did during it's tour of the engine. Hopefully not too...

    750 TSCC Rebuild or Replace?

Wow! I've never heard of those parts failing before. And all at once on the intake side only! Very strange. Not a mechanic, but this engine is a strong candidate for a total tear down. I'd keep disassembling until I was sure I'd found all the parts, and all the damage. I'd be looking for a...
