Got myself half a K2 Gixxer. How to fit the susp. on my GS?

Ok thanks, I got the swingarm bearings and lower triple three bearing removed today. Measured and need to remove 3mm each side of the swingarm, my friend picked up the swingarm and a drawing of the new bearing spacer. Will probably get back to me in a couple of days :)

GSX engine in a GS frame?

Actually I'm not running the under crankcase mounts now as I couldn't find the correct bolts  But the front and rear mounts line up? What's heaviest of the 8v or the 16v? The 8v 1000 is a straight bolt-in affair?

GSX engine in a GS frame?

Simple straight forward swap or is it more to it? I'm guessing new engine mounts need to be fabbed? I might have a deal going on a cheap 84 or 85' gsx1100.... Want the GS1000 or 1100 engine but they're not easy to come by here and especially not one with a chain drive so looking in to this as...

Got myself half a K2 Gixxer. How to fit the susp. on my GS?

Exactly, but I need to remove the bearings to shave down the swingarm. They might get destroyed, but anyways I'm sticking to the gsxr bearings and turning a spacer to use the gs pivot. I'll probably draw up a spacer with a collar since one of the endcaps on the gsxr swinger is damaged or is that...

Got myself half a K2 Gixxer. How to fit the susp. on my GS?

So me and a friend who works at a big engineering company with access to mills and lathes and whatnot tok a second look at the swingarm today and deviced a plan. Firstly, I've measured wrong, the swingarm is not 235mm at the pivot but slightly less; 233 or something (I'm tired and can't...

Got myself half a K2 Gixxer. How to fit the susp. on my GS?

Yeah they're shorter, I don't remember how much right now... The rear wheel is 5.5 inches. I did a lot of searching on this forum yesterday and found a couple of guys who had done this conversion but not a whole lot of pictures or info, except for one guy. 80GS1000 I think was his name. He...

Got myself half a K2 Gixxer. How to fit the susp. on my GS?

Today I've disassembled both rear ends to compare them. I've measured the width of the swingarms by the mounting points and the GS is 225mm wide and the gsxr is 235mm wide. So in order for the gix swinger to fit in the gs frame I need to shave 10mm off somewhere... But where? I was looking...

Got myself half a K2 Gixxer. How to fit the susp. on my GS?

I saw that dremel method on youtube. But my dremel sort of died a couple of weeks ago... Doesn't run full speed, makes a rattling noise when I try and there are huge sparks inside it I can see when looking through the air vents...

Got myself half a K2 Gixxer. How to fit the susp. on my GS?

That looks awesome! Looks like a modern retrobike or something! Okey, so here's where I am at as of now. Old GS fork is removed, and new GIX fork is avaiting assembly and new fork seals . Found the correct conversion bearings at allballsracing.com :) Any tips on removing the upper outer...

    Safe way to clean/detail tires?

You can pretty much use any tire shine product as long as you ONLY do the sidewall and NEVER on the area which contacts the road... But check you date codes before you start cleaning. Might not be usable even though they have good thread left.

Got myself half a K2 Gixxer. How to fit the susp. on my GS?

A friend of mine wanted to get rid of his gsx-r 750 track bike which he had bought as a donor for an engine swap into an atv  So I got the rest dirt cheap, i would call it a steal... I have been wanting to upgrade the suspension and handling of the GS so a gixxer front swap was on...

What I've been up to lately :)

For me and the missus ;) And for when I just wanna cruise, the GS is more of a "funrun" bike for ripping up the twisties and brawling through town, altough the M800 is pretty agile too compared to most cruisers :) Picked it up today, drove about an hour home. The windshield needs to go or get...

My new project thread: 78' GS750

Today I was hellbent on driving this bike so off with the tank and off with the petcock and dismantle it in all its pieces! I then compared the old membrane and plunger to the new one and found that the new one was longer than the old one, so the new one couldn't open to let fuel out. So I put...

My new project thread: 78' GS750

So I removed the carb rack yesterday to check float height and carbs 2 and 3 where both at almost 23-24mm when they should be around 21,4. So I adjusted them and then after I fitted the carbs my petcock didn't work. So F*** those petcock rebuild kits, didn't do a damn thing except make it...

Was going to the dentist but then took a detour ;)

Haha, Nope ;) There are some pockets here and there where cars can get by but usually normal cars can just about squeeze past each other ;) It's just around the freezing point, with the sun out just above... Jupp! Nope, wish I had when I passed the treeline ;) Started to get cold at...
