A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Sure did! It was part of the Legends parade laps and Andrew Stroud also raced it with the Post-Classics. Stroudy was pulling wheelies the length of the straights. There were 2 examples of the McIntosh Suzukis (GS/GSX engines in custom racing chassis built by Auckland Engineer Ken McIntosh, who...

    1980 GS 750E front sprocket 530 question.

I did a 630 - 520 conversion recently on my 750. https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/forum/technical-forums/performance-tuning-mods/1738589-17-tooth-530-front-sprocket/page2 There are some sprocket size comparison photos you might find interesting. I installed 17T/47T and here's what I...

gs450 - still not running right

Can you post some pics of the damage?
  5. KiwiAlfa156

gs450 - still not running right

Can do, it's indicative of a lean idle mixture, either due to extra air (leak) or not enough fuel (clogged jet or passages).

gs450 - still not running right

Did you remove the jets when you cleaned or just dipped the carbs with the jets in situ? Exhaust gas is about 350?F so that tallies with you hot pipe.

gs450 - still not running right

The orientation convention is LH RH as if you are sitting on the bike. The other naming convention is Cylinder number 1 is the left most one, sitting on the bike facing forward. In the case of a twin, the RH cylinder is number 2. So to be clear. LH (cylinder 1) plug going brown, header is...

gs450 - still not running right

The video was interesting. A question, when you are adjusting the carb sync and it runs more evenly, are you opening the RH carb more in relation to the LH (good cylinder) carb?

    1981 GS850glx (BS32SS) Air screw/tuning help needed!

Yeah, you're on to it. More fuel if its lean, less fuel if its rich. Let the AFR reading be your guide. The whole smaller main jet thing is about significant displacement differences (like 25% more capacity) drawing air thought the same carb diameter. You won't be comparing the needs of two...

gs450 - still not running right

Are you sure it's running on both cylinders? Get it running and try pulling the plug lead on the side with the clean plug and see if anything changes. Replace the lead and try the other side. Report your observations.

    1981 GS850glx (BS32SS) Air screw/tuning help needed!

As the cylinders are fueled by carbs with identical Fast/Main Circuits (mains/needle jet/needle clip/main air jet) fuel delivery to each cylinder should be identical, so having four sniffers across the headers is redundant. A lambda per cylinder is only required when fueling is EFI (closed-loop)...

They are a T10 wedge 12V, 3.4W, most auto parts stores will have them, but may be not the exact wattage, but you can get those on eBay, Temu, Aliexpress (might be a tariff on the last two, if you're in the US...) https://www.cmsnl.com/products/bulb12v34w-t10_0947112028/

Hmmm, how old is the Boyer unit? Was it new when you fitted it? Are there any identification numbers on the controller box? Do you have the kit number?

    1981 GS850glx (BS32SS) Air screw/tuning help needed!

Hi There, I've used the colortune, and had good results (setting up air screws on VMs)... and not so good results... I think the colour variation is too blunt a tool for fine tuning BS fuel screws. The most accurate way is to fit an AFR (lambda) sensor and an ARF gauge... Or go old fashioned...

Unique 100 year old four stroke engine

May be not waaay smarter, but they were truly pioneers and experimenters in a new field of technology. Cycle World (Kevin Cameron and Mark Hoyer) have recently done a pod-cast on the origin of the across the frame 4 cylinder, which began with the Gilera Rondine raced in the 1939. DOHC...
