A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Bought myself a $500 birthday present, 1978 GS1000C

That tank alone would fetch close to what you paid for the bike, what a great deal you got and happy birthday. David.

Kiwi Canuck tries his Luck with a Six Fiddy

Nope, I'm not that good of a rider anymore, but I'm intending to ride it to the best of my ability. The bike is actually pretty easy to ride fast and it feels like a big DR650 with the road manners of my VStrom. I have a 15-16 day trip planned to go up to NWT and Yukon this summer, I'm taking...

'79 GS850 what did I get myself into?

Yes you can use Helicoils or Timeserts on sparkplug threads but you can also get a thread restorer that you insert into the opening and then wind it back out. Like this...

Photo Bucket attempt to redeem themselves, renewal deadline Nov 30th 2018

I needed to find an old photo today so I logged into my Photo Bucket account, well it seems they have tried to redeem themselves from the big mess they made by unlinking everyone photos who did not have a paid account. The offer that popped up was a lot more reasonable than the $400 a year...

'79 GS850 what did I get myself into?

Or these, I bought the P2 150mm and the P3 150mm, which I use regularly, awesome tools. https://www.vesseltools.com/handtools/screwdrivers/megadora/900jf-series-detail I didn't buy the Impactor drivers as I have an older impact set but I've heard very positive things about them...

    Sorting GS1000 CV carbs?

You will probably need an impact driver and you'll also need a good set of screw drivers, both flat head and JIS. Use heat to remove the jets if they are stuck, especially the pilot jets. Follow the guide on Basscliff's site. http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/ Download the...

POR-15 Fuel Tank Repair Kit - Lessons Learned and Proper Application

If you are referring to the Metal Rescue, it works wonders on steel parts that are chromed and have rusted a bit, but not sure about turn signals, I would try Autosol or white brick on a polishing wheel. The end caps are pop metal, so I used the polishing wheel, the rest of the parts are steel...

POR-15 Fuel Tank Repair Kit - Lessons Learned and Proper Application

Limeex2, to answer your question about sealing the edge of the paint around the cap, some have used a bead of JB weld with great success. BTW that Metal Rescue is a great product, I've used it on chrome parts and it worked very well, but have not used it on a tank yet. David.

POR-15 Fuel Tank Repair Kit - Lessons Learned and Proper Application

These 2 pieces of advice that Ed gave me a while back made all the difference, using isopropyl alcohol after the fresh water rinse almost eliminated the flash rust, I also used an air compressor to expel some of the excess water before using the heat gun. After draining the excess product and...

    GS1000S indicator control

Kiwi Canuck tries his Luck with a Six Fiddy

Ha ha my wife keeps asking why the VStrom is still in the garage. "I thought you were going to sell it" I am going to sell it, but I'm just figuring out what luggage and racks I can re-use on the AT, not much by the look of it but I'm determined to at least use the rear rack adapter plate and...

Kiwi Canuck tries his Luck with a Six Fiddy

Trevor, the DCT is something that I was a bit concerned about when I was researching the AT and never thought I would buy the DCT model. If they had both in the showroom I probably would've bought the standard, but they didn't as this was the last one in BC for sale, so I made the plunge...

Kiwi Canuck tries his Luck with a Six Fiddy

Steve, the seat height on the Adventure Sports is adjustable, I have mine on the tall position and I'm 6'2" and have a 35" inseam so can flat foot both feet in the high position. That was what I loved about the bike as soon as I sat on it, fit me so well as it's a tall bike. The Standard...
