A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Filter assembly GS550

I imagine the earlier 550’s had the same airbox setup as in the attached pic theres an eBay item that shows the top……you could probably fabricate one….if you just need top...

1980 GS250T all around ignition failure?

A two cylinder bike needs both cylinders running perfect to reach redline. You’ve likely solved your ignition issue , but a proper carb cleaning is calling. … see Nessism’s carb cleaning tutorial. Yes, there’s a air/fuel mixture screw on carb outlet throat with a delicate needle ,easily damaged...

1980 GS250T all around ignition failure?

If a coil is cracked, replace it. The dyna setup comes with its own ignitor (that black/blue gizmo mounted to ignition plate) that takes the positive feed from the Suzuki feed and the coil negative feeds to mimic what the stock setup did. Note that dyns’s mounting plate needs cutout for oil...

1980 GS250T all around ignition failure?

I’d bet the coils are ok…..the ignitor is probably at fault here. I’d consider looking into dyna ignition setup and see if it could work on the gs250….bunch of guys did this to the gs450 to lose the Suzuki setup. Looking at signal coil area ,does it sorta look like this pic with oil sender...

    Stater and Reg/Rect problems on 82 GS650Ez

Back in 2013 before I swapped in the SH-775 unit, I used a clamp on AC current meter to measure the 3 phase line current output feeding into the existing SH-232 shunt unit. Leg current was running about 11 amps at 4000 rpms …power output then was about 270 watts total. Swapping in the series...

    Stater and Reg/Rect problems on 82 GS650Ez

I also left my half baked stator in when I went the SH-775 route in 2013……was still working fine in my last ride in October 2021. I was in process of moving so bike went into hibernation…..be interesting to see how blue Stabil does in spring 2023…if we all survive.

GS1000G Clutch - New Cable - Slips @ speed but won't slip when stationary.

….(Maybe move the clutch arm up a spline or 2 on the cover?).“ yes, try this. The angle of clutch arm to its anchor point is critical. Pic shows my 650 setup which is different than the others……my anchor point is further back on crankcase. I push on arm till I feel clutch resistance.

    Auxiliary lights for nighttime riding

I go out of my way to be noticed…here’s my setup with 2 watt leds…they really ain’t as bright as shown…due to camera flash

    Auxiliary lights for nighttime riding

I just use aux lights for daytime running… my nighttime rides are over….be prepared to experiment…like you said, the tech is evolving. I’d look for something led that draws at least 10 watts actual per light tightly focused to catch these silly suicidal creatures.

    1981 gs450 Air mixture screw

6 years ago, out of curiosity , I removed a 650 mixture screw and made this sketch. Two years ago, I got some off an eBay guy …..they were well made.

    1979 GS850 Ignition Trouble

“When I unplug a 2-3 plug cap, the bike runs poorly, but when I unplug a 1-4 plug cap, the bike dies.“ the 1-4 setup is behaving normally for this type of dual plug ignition coil…the 2-3 is not, so somehow 2-3 is finding an alternative ground path. Can you go back to the 2-3 original ignition...

    1979 GS850 Ignition Trouble

”When the 2-3 contact breaker is closed, the 2-3 coil gets voltage. When the 1-4 breaker is closed, both 1-4 and 2-3 coils get voltage.“ sounds like a short…suspect the wiring adjacent to condensers…while your at it, replace the condensers as they can do funky things . Ignition coils on these...

    GS400B camchain tensioner adjustment

Take it off….after locking the set screw! It’s hard to explain its correct function, but holding and caressing it will make it obvious how it’s supposed to work. The plunger is only to push out towards the chain . The knob with its spring pushes on a ball riding on ramp that prevents the plunger...

    GS400B camchain tensioner adjustment

No….sounds like knob is vibrating , probably not putting tension on plunger shaft. Read this link, there’s another link inside it too http://members.dslextreme.com/users/storagecliff/images/engine_odds-n-ends.html#A05

Wow, almost a 4 yearold thread back alive! Good job…. Make sure you have a good ground from the sh-775 to battery negative….add a wire to be sure if needed…. I had this issue early on.

    1979 GS850 Ignition Coil Help

This 1979 gs850 still has points ignition ,right? Ignition coils are very durable, so I’d suspect plug caps before blaming coils. Try removing plug caps, snip coil wires back 10mm ..maybe also get new set of plug caps, as are inexpensive.

Cant Keep 1982 Suzuki GS450GA Running

    ”I'm having a similar problem with my 1982 GS450GA.
