A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

Thanks! Thanks! Eric I should have ordered them into the dealer! PartShark (Flatout) charged me $9 shipping for $5 of rings! But I needed to just buy them because I have been putting my carb rebuild off. The link you put was for the 450 and not my 550 fyi. Thank you Steve for the info...

    Intake boot O-ring 32, 38, or 40?

I came to this thread as I was trying to find out what O-ring I needed for my 1978 GS550C (Barr does not suppy these - from his website: "77-79 550's use 28mm O-rings (which I don't carry)"). I figured it out and thought this would be an ok spot to post the information. The o-ring is on the...

    78' GS550 project.

Well Bruce, I just finished reading your whole thread which I found from a search for what to use for a carb dip (great stuff here!). I never even considered Pine Sol, but am not sure... I was really set on berrymans but that seems harder to find in Canada. I just went downstairs to check my...

    77-78 gs550 build

I just thought I would add my 2 cents here, but I can't answer your questions. I've kept the stock ratio on my bike for pure simplicity and for assuming that if it was designed that way it must be the best way (50 rear/15 front). I want to reinforce buying from Z1: I didnt realized they sold...

Motion Pro Rivet and Breaker Tool 08-0058 Motion Pro Rivet and Breaker Tool 08-0058 I have used a different Motion Pro tool, and brute force ended up with a snapped pin while trying to shorten my brand new RK chain. It had no problem breaking my old chain with it (However it might have been...

Getting there Getting there Mike, thanks for the valuable information! I am no expert on the bearings, and as they don't cost too too much I will buy them the next time I make an order/work on the bike. Don, you mentioned how to torque the nut on the clutch. I guess for this to work the...

GS550 Gearshifting Shaft Bent & more!

That worked great, bit harder to get into first but I will see how it handles once its all back together. Also, would the gearshifter shaft for a 78 GS550E fit my 550C? They should be the same engine, right? I have found one for a good price, and may need it in the future... but I should have...
