A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Somethings wrong…

Hey! Thanks a lot. I just called a local motorcycle mechanic and am planning to bring the bike up to him. This is a little (way) over my head. I really appreciate everyone for offering suggestions and helpful info. I’m gonna let the professionals take it from here! Thanks again!

    Somethings wrong…

Should it be running at all right now? I mean I drove it for at least a mile or two today. Is it possible that it is installed incorrectly, but still running?

    Somethings wrong…

I don’t know? I don’t even know what a plunger is. It didn’t seem to want to go back in, but it did. The guy who was helping me (who doesn’t know much about motorcycles-but is kinda handy) said there was a spring that was keeping it from going back in easily. but… We just took the two bolts...

    Somethings wrong…

So, a couple weeks ago, I had a friend help me try to change the starter on my gs450t. In order to get the starter out, we had to remove the cam chain tensioner. To do this, we just undid the two bolts holding it to the engine, and slid it out. Anyway, after we put it back on, things were...

    Starter maybe?

Hello again, I looked up the starter rebuild on YouTube, and I’m embarrassed to say- I think it’s gonna be out of my wheelhouse. I mean, I can change the oil… that’s about it. I went on eBay to try to buy a new one, because I think I can easily replace it. But, I was confused on what to buy...

    Starter maybe?

Hello! Been a while since I’ve been on. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. Recently I noticed that my gs450t was having trouble starting. At first it would try to turn over, but if it didn’t make it on the first try, it seemed like the battery would quickly...

    Low sound and not responsive

Hello! I have a 1982 Gs450t. When I went for a ride today, it started right up as usual. Then, once I started driving I realized that the sound was a little low as I accelerated. Also, it wasn’t as responsive- like- I’d give it gas, but it was dragging…. Any ideas of why suddenly this would...

    Which direction filter cover?

Yeah- there?s no doubt that mine doesn?t go through. Gs450t. From the inside you can really tell. It?s smooth metal. Thanks to everyone for all the replies. I was a member here for several years but I haven?t posted in years- so I had to start a new account. Thanks again fellas- steve

    Which direction filter cover?

I get what you?re saying, but it doesn?t go all the way through the metal. I?ve changed the oil a bunch over the years, and usually put it on the bottom, but last time I had the tires changed, the shop did the oil and put that circle on the top... I looked at a few pics and saw it both ways...

    Which direction filter cover?

Thank you! It didn?t seem like it would make a difference, but I?m not really sure why it?s there either?!

    Which direction filter cover?

this is what I’m talking about... I’m not sure if it matters if that circle is on top or bottom?? Thanks again!

    Which direction filter cover?

Hello, I have a 1982 gs450t. I changed my oil yesterday and when I put the filter cover back on, I couldn?t remember if that little circle should be on the top or the bottom??? If you don?t know what I?m talking about, there is like a little circle that is next to one of the three holes where...
