A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    GS550 Bottom End Rattle/Knock

It certainly doesn't sound like the typical GS clutch noise when the clutch lever is released in neutral. It's certainly rapid and (probably not isolated to one cylinder/valves) sounding like something is loose (bolt/nut perhaps), rotating and hitting something . My description of the noise is...

    first time Suzuki drag racing

Thank you twowings. And now your comment has me looking for the CE label or something indicating meeting European standards, either of which I can't find under the liner. Hopefully I'm well protected and I hope it's not the 45 year joke my old riding buddies would say...full face helmets...

    first time Suzuki drag racing

In the U.S. for NHRA sanctioned tracks, motorcycle helmets need to be not more than 10 years old beyond the original Snell dated approval. I'm not aware of what Suzukian mentioned about the Snell rating but frequently the same helmet has other agency ratings. In 2021, I purchased (new) a Shoei...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

In general, I'm not against EV's but for me, I'd want my EV (car that is) to give me a range of 400 miles and not more than 15 minutes to charge up to say, 75% of full charge...AND...be cost comparable to a similar ICE vehicle. As for motorcycles, being an exclusively vintage Japanese...

    GS1000 head removal

One other simple suggestion with starting fluid...remove the suspect cylinder spark plug and spray directly into the head. Replace plug and try to start. If the cylinder fires, it might be very brief and it could be difficult to hear that it does indeed combust so you might have to do it a few...

Hi guys, need some carb help

Before chasing many other potential causes, with the engine running, spray starting fluid (quick start) into the suspect cylinder and see if it fires.

78 GS1000 has become an oil burner

I frequently use suzukipartsmonster.com for OEM parts. In the last 3 years I've purchased OEM parts for a '78 GS750, '01 busa and more recently an '01 SV650. Competitive prices and acceptable shipping cost and delivery time.

Off topic: Need 2 stroke help!

I would think that the majority of the sealing is from inside of the seal on the crank. The press fit of the seal into the case should be enough. If the previous seal popped out, maybe it was slightly cocked and not completely seated and/or some slight damage either to the outer portion of the...

Off topic: Need 2 stroke help!

If the engine is still together, can you do a compression test? If so, be certain to perform it with the throttle wide open. I have no idea what the psi spec would be for a small engine, but I would think it should be at least 100 psi. If it's low, then the crank seals are likely leaking...

    GS750/GS850 cylinder interchangeability?

That is correct. Quite an innovator from what I read up about him. The piston kit I have is still in the original box from probably the early/mid 80's.

    GS750/GS850 cylinder interchangeability?

I have a 1979 GS750 (parts) engine and a 1980 (or '81 or '82- not sure but no kickstarter) GS850 (parts) engine. I want to build another 750 engine for my 1978 bike and have an RC Engineering 870cc piston kit (found a new old stock kit). The stock 750cc pistons are 65mm and the RC kit pistons...
