If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Gas in air box 1982 GS300L

My 1982 Suzuki GS300L was starting to act up. It would start up great and idle. It would throttle up fine as well. But after a few minutes, it wouldn’t idle properly. I would have to keep the throttle up to keep it alive. I then started tearing it apart and found gas in the air box! A fair...

    Electrical problems with 1982 GS300L

Thanks tom203. Do you know what the pilot mixture screw setting should be? I know it comes pre adjusted with caps so you don’t try to adjust yourself. But previous owner was adjusting. I want to make sure they are to the right spec. but the bike was having the same issues as last time, which...

    Electrical problems with 1982 GS300L

I have a 1982 GS300L. It has had electrical problems in the past. Those problems consisted of voltage spikes and drops that would increase/ decrease the bikes RPMs without the throttle engaged. I replaced the stator and the voltage regulator/rectifier and those electrical problems went away! The...

Hello. I have a 1982 Suzuki GS300L. The bike has about 1500 original miles on it. After ALOT of work on this bike I finally got it running great last month. It was riding great! Carbs have been cleaned and rebuilt, valve clearances done, no vacuum leaks, new cleaned and sealed gas tank...

RPMs increase and decrease with blinker?

So basically what was happening is the voltage regulator was not working. Yes. But why were the RPMs going up every time I engaged and electrical system on the bike? I think what was happening was when I tried to throttle up the bike, the coils and spark plugs weren’t receiving enough voltage...

RPMs increase and decrease with blinker?

Luckily, when I purchased the bike, the previous owner had an extra one laying around and gave it to me. It was in the bag with the tile and registration.

RPMs increase and decrease with blinker?

It was a bad voltage regulator! Fucking Christ. I switched the voltage regulator to a new one and it solve all the problems on this thread. Even the supposed “carb problems”. the bike is idling and throttling great now!

RPMs increase and decrease with blinker?

Yes. When I engage any of the brakes, blinkers, high beams etc. the engine RPMs go up without engaging the throttle. As far as the blinkers ago, when the blinker flashes on the RPMs go up, I’m with the blinker flashes off the RPMs decrease. At no point does the throttle on this bike work. At no...

RPMs increase and decrease with blinker?

I will check the voltage at all those points in the next few days. I will check back here for the results.

RPMs increase and decrease with blinker?

Yes. The engine does throttle up with either the front or rear brake engaged. I’ve been combing through the service manuals for any type of wiring diagram. Not too much luck. I don’t know what I’m looking for, so it’s difficult. that’s the thing. All the wiring is in great shape. Nothing has...

RPMs increase and decrease with blinker?

As far as the carburetor issue goes, which I think I also have a carburetor problem, because the bike will not throttle up whatsoever when I engage the throttle. The carburetor has been cleaned and rebuilt, and all the jets and airways have been tested with carb cleaner blowouts. Needle jet...

RPMs increase and decrease with blinker?

Will do. Thank you for the tips. and yes, the engine will rev up when I engage either the front or rear brakes.

RPMs increase and decrease with blinker?

I have 2 connections on each the positive and the negative terminals to the battery. One of them is definitely the starter system. I don’t know what the other connection is, probably the blinker/ lights/ horn etc. it is so strange. The bike idles perfectly. Maybe I have a weird electric...
