As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    1983 GS1100GK Aussie barn find

Once you get a clear understanding of the differences between a standard 1100 and the GK model, you will be able to manage part replacement and servicing easily. The obvious are the fairing, bags and electrical wiring but I understand the list also includes bigger forks, front brakes and 16 inch...

    1983 GS1100GK Aussie barn find

You can turn it into a naked GK by removing the fairing and panniers. A mate of mine has one in Sydney. No need to change the front end radically. you just need to remember the GK had bigger forks and brakes and source your parts accordingly. You will need a headlight shell but there are usually...

what did you wrench on today??

Progressively servicing my 1981 GS1000G and it is time for a new oil foam air filter. Rather than buy a purpose designed foam filter online, I've made my own from a sheet of foam from Unifilter Australia who are located on the Central Coast NSW. www.unifilter.com.au/ Using both...

GS1000G Oil Leak - oil pressure sender unit?

Thanks for your thoughts and advice guys. I've just degreased and pressure washed the motor and will go for a ride this afternoon. I will be checking the shims soon so will check that things are torqued down correctly. The only options for the oil leak appear to be the head and base gaskets...

GS1000G Oil Leak - oil pressure sender unit?

I have an oil leak at the rear of my engine block and it appears to be coming from the oil pressure sender unit located directly under the auto cam chain tensioner and carbs. Has anyone had a similar issue and can the oil seal and sealing washers on the unit be replaced without having to remove...

    New member with 1980 GS100G

Great pick up. Apart from the pipe looks pretty standard. My 1981 GS1000G is virtually original. Lots of these sold in Australia - a great touring bike. I've had mine since new so happy to assist with any advice.

    1980 GS 1000G - Low compression

The issue of valve specification on a bike laid up relates to my personal experience. I had a 81 GS1000G which I purchased new in the shed for nearly 14 years. The bike had only 27000 kms on the clock and I knew the motor was fine. Cold compression was only 90 psi on some cyclinders. Carbs...

    Oceania GS1000G Fork Question

My June 1981 build GS1000G purchased new in Sydney Australia came with preload adjustable forks from the dealer. My previous 1978 GS1000HC came with air over oil. The same model sold in the UK and Europe.

Low cylinder compression on GS1000 = rebuild?

Totally agree with the advice above. My bike was layer up for 14 years. I took it to a Suzuki dealership to get the carbs cleaned. They told me they did a compression test and found low compression. This was apparently done cold not starting the engine. Said I probably needed an engine rebuild...

    Island Classic is coming

Big T, I think they are in a very different league financially. #84 was an engine in a wrecked frame of a road bike when I first saw it 3 months ago. In the true privateer spirit it was built in a local workshop with a range of help. Both riders will proably enjoy the experience and the effort...
