A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Excellent Zed. Thanks so much for the detailed and quick response. I guess I’ll play it safe and continue with the stock studs.

    Cylinder block studs

Hi all, Restoring my 1980 GS1100e. The head was leaking so I’m replacing the head gasket as well as the base gasket. Some of the s tuds seems to be loose. What is the torque setting for the studs? It doesn’t seem to be listed in my manual. Also, the block has been off this bike once before...

    1980 GS1100e Cam Timing

I believe I found the problem. The pic I provided in my last response shows a 17 millimeter washer has two slots in the back of it that sit on top of two pins that stick out of the timing advance assembly allowing it to mate to the assembly when the bolt is sent through it and tightened. This...

    1980 GS1100e Cam Timing

Hi gents. I found TDC using the piston stop tool, completed the degreeing the cams, confirmed piston to valve clearance, adjusted the valves, removed my degree wheel only to find once again that the T mark on the ignition plate is not even close to lining up with the TDC mark. I attached a...

    1980 GS1100e Cam Timing

Yes thanks I am aware the piston stays up there and tried to compensate for it by eye but wasn’t aware for that many degrees. I’m not sure I explained my situation clearly enough. I confirmed TDC initially using the piston stop via the webcam procedure. My issue is that the degree wheel figures...

    1980 GS1100e Cam Timing

Hi all, I installed Web adjustable cams, Arias pistons, cylinders bored 3 over, head milled. Did this about 15 years ago. Never ran well at high rpm. Been sitting in my basement ever since while I raced my gsxr’s. Retired now and restoring it. Added 36 smooth bores. Ready to go but having a...
