Folks,
I have the engine out of my 1978 GS1000E and soon it will be receiving a big bore kit and some head work.
While the engine is on a stand, is there anything I can inspect in the transmission with the oil pan removed that I should look out for?
I never rode the bike, so I don't know if it had any shifting issues. The oil was clear (no metal debris) when I drained it.
Also, when I had the engine running in the frame, I briefly shifted up/down through the gears and didn't hear any grinding, etc - granted, the drivetrain was not under load.
Your advice is appreciated!
