DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

hi
My bike runs great at speed but sputters while idling and sometimes stalls .The plugs are fairly new and the gas was stabilized over the winter. The valves are also within specs.. I don't think the Carb boots are leaking air, because it didn't rev up when I sprayed carb cleaner on them. Any ideas would be very welcome.

thanks bubbarandi

Clean the carbs and replace the O-rings with a kit from cycleorings.com

thanks nessism

I hate to tear the carbs down if it's something else. New gas did not fix it so maybe i'll run a can of seafoam through it and see if it improves .

Greetings and Salutations!!

Hi Mr. bubbarandi1,

Sea Foam might help, if used liberally enough for a long enough period of time. But it always pays to do the job correctly. You'll find a couple of maintenance lists in your "mega-welcome". These are tried and true processes guaranteed to get your GS running like new.
As long as I'm here, let me welcome you to the forum.

Not to hijack this thread, but I just cleaned my 250T's carbs and it barely idles as well. My question is this: Are the carbs the same on the 450 as the 250? If so, it'll make finding a set of o-rings a lot easier. thanks.

i second the seafoam suggestion, i had a similar problem with my 450 and i didn't feel like taking off the carbs for a 3rd time. all i did was run seafoam with the gas just like the bottle recommends i went for a more concentrated mixture then i would run the motorcycle just fast enough that it wouldn't die. after a few days of this it evened out.

and if a mod could look at my account for some reason i cant start a new post.
