A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

1982 GS650G Need Photos of Electrical and Air Box

I have started a winter project of restoring a 82 GS650G. Bought the bike a few weeks ago for $300 Canadian dollars and will be stripping it down to the frame, sand blasting and powder coating it all back to life. Found a brand new tank, side covers and tail piece and will have a new seat cover fro Pit Replicas to finish it off which likely won't be until spring that way it is going. I will post pictures once I figure out how to do it correctly.

The bike was pretty rough when I got it with a lot of parts missing or removed. As such I need a photo or two of the layout for the electrical and air box configuration so I know where everything fits in. The on line manuals with the exploded views show me what parts there are but not quite where and how they fit together. So if there is an 82 650G owner out there that could help me I would greatly appreciate the help!

This will be restoration number five for me, the others were 550's. I really appreciate the support and info that so many of you post and share here. I have posted the "project". Be,ow as well as my latest conversation/restoration of an 82 GS550L to a T.

I concur with Alan, the "T" is looking good.

I've moved a few things around on my 650G, but the basic layout is the same as the 82. If you are in Vancouver, I'd be happy to get together so you can get eyes on, rather than just photos.
