DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi my indicator/hi low switch is unrepairable ,
struggling to find a replacement, it has 11 wires, 9 going to the blue connector block plus 2 more ,any ideas of another that will fit ,the only one that looks the same so far is a GS1000 E ,but not found on for sale .
or a diagram to convert and 8 wire to 11 wire .
cheers

What happened to your original switch? Is the button broke or is the entire control destroyed? Is the harness salvageable? If the harness can be saved you can transplant into a different housing. I did just that by buying a hand control for the internal switch parts and then transplanting into my old housing w/harness.

the wiring is fine ,button is broken but it had been repaired before so making it impossible to repair again

I have one for an 82 850 but it is for Canada and only has 8 wires. Z1 Enterprises sells an aftermarket one by K&S stock # 12-0042B It is vintage style universal use. It is for turn signals, horn, headlight, high beam and running light. comes with a connector box with 6 wires and 5 wires with bullet connectors. In Canada the wiring is slightly different as running lights are mandatory and there is no switching needed for head and tail light. The one I have is missing the screws that connect the two pieces together. If you want it PM me with a picture of yours and I will see if it is the same.

The stock hand control has a momentary contact turn signal switch arrangement which triggers the auto cancel control box to begin it's cycle. Most aftermarket hand controls have an ON/OFF turn signal arrangement which won't work in that system.

Again, if you can't find the exact hand control you need then it's easy enough to buy a similar one and mix and match parts to build what you need. Even if you find the proper control it should be taken apart so it can be cleaned up internally and lubed with dielectric grease. There are photos of the guts in my flick account as well as others on this site in older threads. One key thing to know is that the square button must be rotated 90 degrees in order to extract it. A lot of people don't know this and wind up breaking the button.
