A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Would someone far more knowledgeable than myself tell me if the engine from the 1983 GS1100 will bolt onto the transmission of the 82 gs750. I think I read I could get it the engine mounted into the frame but since its a shaft drive I wonder if I can fit it to my existing transmission. I have an opportunity at an awesome deal on the 1100 and am wondering if I should get it running again or part it. Keep the parts (engine) I want and sell the rest.

I confused with what you're asking. The transmissions are in the engine cases. There is no separate transmission for any engine to bolt onto. if you want to install a 1100 engine in a 750 you'll need a chain drive engine, not a shaft drive.

I went out and looked at my 750 after I posted this and realized the engine and transmission were a unit. My fledgling car knowledge got in the way. I thank you for responding to my stupid question!

Now I have to decide if I need another project bike. I know even less than I did about the chain drive but I have been riding chain drive motorcycles for some 35 years. I did like the shaft drive on my Honda VTX 1800 but Truth is I didnt even know suzuki produced a shaft drive. Now I have to see what parts availability is like for the old suzuki shaft drive final drive and if it pays for me to start messing with a GL.

I can get the bike cheap but if I will never be able to get replacement parts for the final drive it might not be worth it. It has about 34,000 miles on the clock according to the owner.
