2 into 2 Exhausts for GSX250 1980

ukjules

Forum Sage
a quick throw away thread but I simply must have a 2 into 2 exhaust system for my GSX 250.
It currently has the totally useless and awful looking 2 into 2 motad presently.
How can i ride this wonder bike with this abomination on it ?

Q) does anyone have one to swap / sell for a 2 into 1 ?
Q) does anyone know anyone in the UK who can make , or has had made, a 2 into 2 system similar to the ones as were standard ?
if you do i will bombard them with an order instantly.

Help ......

If you can wait a couple of months i,m in the process of bending some up. They will be in 32mm not the 35mm as originals or motad. I had some stainless steel 32mm made for my cafe racer & they work fine & with dunstall silencers allow it to rev easily to 11k

Many thanks for offer .
Let me check on stats as the standard look is what I must have.

If 32 mm looks as good as standard then I'm interested.
Let me check what those silencers look like.

I won't be using mine for high revs though.
I am looking for like the original nice and quiet...

Thanks so much for offer !!!
One thing I have spare 2 into 1 downpipes . Can they be
bent to fit and silencer ?

These dunstall ones look similar to stock http://dunstallmotorcycles.com/shop/dunstall-red-cap-motorcycle-silencer-1-38-1-12/
They are 1.5" though

Theres a pic of mine on this forum. 2 cyl photos, about page 6, then go to page 35 or 36 of that thread & you ll see them

did try to find you thread but no page 36 and no thread from yo down to page 32 !

I note all the US bikes have standard 2 into 2 exhausts ? Can you buy them in the US?
you must be bale too as they didnt last that long back in the 80's.
If so where ?
It is such a shame that they are impossible to get in the UK.

If only I could weld / bend these things id make exact copies from stainless steel and sell them

Hi Jules,

I have a good friend who makes exhausts (and any other parts needed) for classic scramble bikes etc. He might be willing to fab a set of pipes for you but he generally works with the bike in his shop to get an exact fit.

I might be going to see him next week so let me know what you want and I'll see if he's willing. He's not cheap but the quality is what you pay for.

Cyrano.

This could be worth a look ? And thanks !
Bike could be at his shop if he can make a similar to stock one ?

I have looked online and I think I can find silencers that might do
the job. So this is progress and would make his job easier.
This means it only needs downpipes and a connector from downpipe to silencer.

I have 4 downpipes for my 2 (2 into 1 ) systems.
Perhaps these could be used ?

I'd be interested in his thoughts and can supply detail
and bike if necessary.

Hey Jules,

i got hold of this thread a while ago but was reluctant to post because I can't guarantee anything.

I've no plans to go and see him next week but I'll use you as an excuse.
Here's an example of his work.
He made the tank, seat unit, full exhaust, brackets etc etc...

His work looks excellent quality for sure.
(Not that i am into cafe racers at all mind)

The silencer looks like one you can get off the shelf ?
These are the ones that could do it for my bike and any gsx 250/400
http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motor...ilencers/bike-it-universal-silencer-megaphone

Whatever if he made the downpipes, brackets that is what is needed.
With mine also a middle section of downpipe to silencer bit too.

I can see that it is hard to describe what i need bar from it looking like it was when it was new.

I would be so interested in what he says as will other GSX 250 , 400 etc owners in the uk !!
as the systems are not possible to buy now.

Does anyone know what the original dia of 2 into 2 downpipes are ?
Are they like the ones I have 35mm ?
Anyone with one please inform ? I am trying to
get a system where we can future proof these bikes
and enjoy original exhausts when the old ones die out.

Hi, Jules,

I met up with my pal today and put forward your request. Short story is he is far too busy at the moment to take on any new work. He has just started racing a chair outfit in the BEARS series and now everybody wants him to modify their bikes, all on top of the work he already has.

He suggested you get in touch with these guys

http://www.jacexhausts.co.uk/

and see what they say. The key is to keep asking if they know someone else and eventually you will strike it lucky.

Sorry I couldn't help this time, good luck.

Thanks so much for trying . I will try these guy's. The one thing I need is the internal and external dia stats of the standard downpipes where they meet the Middle section end / silencer end. You see I might have a middle section. I might have found very good new silencers and now only need diwnpipes. I am trying to find if I can bend my 2 sets of 2 into 1 into something that fits ?
