Ok so I was riding the side streets today and came across a 550 for sale. the sign said 1800..... ya thats what I said when I looked at it. Lots of work to be done on this one. So how much is a 550 going for anyway??? I might want to pick one up for my grand son later down the road.

I picked my 1980 GS550L for $360.00 (was asking $700.00) in Huntsville, Al. It would not start, had great tires, but would almost start when jumped. I replaced battery, cleaned/rebuilt carbs, rebuilt front and rear master/wheel cylinders, cleaned tank, cleaned all electrical connections, did coil relay mod, made new ground lug to frame under seat... whew... now runs like a brand new bike!! Spent about 300.00.
I would not pay over $1000 for one that needs work.... they were 2198.00 brand new in 1980

Mitch, I have a 1981 550T, Low miles around 8000. Good shape. Thinking of selling for $900.00
