I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Returning Visitors
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Luckily I've found one on ebay, and it's on its way.
As I mentioned earlier we've had one postal workers' strike after another for the past year or so, which has left our whole postal service in chaos. So I hope it gets here!

Just sorting out a few photos. Here's a before and after of the instrument cluster.
And this next one amazes me.
Here are two identical cam chains - one in reasonable condition, and the other badly stretched. I can hardly believe how much the one chain has stretched.

It's been a while since I updated this thread, but the restoration has been progressing slowly and steadily.
So now I thought it about time to post some updates.
Here is a picture of some stages in restoring the tank.
The tank currently looks like this...
Next stage is the clear coat.
Using a similar method, I fixed up the side covers.
You will probably notice that I used more of a blood red than the orangey-red used on the original.
This was partly accidental as it was the only red caliper paint that I could get, but then I decided I preferred it so I've used it all over the bike, such as in the discs in this next picture.
Finally, a tip from me to the forum.
If you are having trouble with those finicky jobs, such as swapping out cam shims, and in particular getting the cable tie under the valve (if you are using that method), then my advice is:
Use your eight-year old !!!

That's for sure - one of the main reasons for doing this project in the first place. He's enjoying it almost as much as his @!#$%! computer games!!

Yes I did all the work at home, it was fairly straightforward, just very finicky cutting out the stencils. Trick is to go slow. As with most jobs on the bike I suppose!

Looks like this bike is coming along nicely. Katana....awesome.
Way to get your kid involved. My son is 10 and I try to teach him little handyman and tool stuff all the time.
